Hi guys
It’s been a few years since I last travelled to usa. I used to frequent usa from aus 2-3 times PA and flights ranged from 2.5k for premium to 6-9k for business usually flying air NZ

I’m planning a trip to usa and am looking around June 23 ADL to LAS and premium with air nz is 6k. Historically this was 3k.

My question is have flight gone up 50% across the board? Or is there something I’m missing here? Any insight appreciated as I’ve been out of the travelling game for a while

Demand exceeds supply, reduced supply, increase pricing. Don't forget world inflation is also adding to costs. Parts inventory I was buying for work at the beginning of 2022 was $14K for a small turbo charger which are now $22K.

If you are ready to book, QF has a USA sale until Wednesday this week.

Many things have gone up 50% some more.

The cheapest solution might be to Hawaii then a US carrier from there.

On 23 June i found philippine airlines from BNE to LAX, business class return for $4500. It’s not the quickest journey, but it is full flat seats on the BNE-MNL and MNL-LAX sectors. You could top and tail that with an ADL-BNE and LAX-LAS flight. Probably less than $6000 all up. The transfer is just three hours in MNL outbound and 5 hours return. Longer journey but you’ll be arriving well rested.

You could also top and tail with jetstar ‘business’ to HNL, ex SYD, for $3309 return, plus the ADL-SYD and HNL-LAX. First class ex HNL is very expensive at the moment though.

That’s interesting thanks! Did you book direct or any particular website?

I just used google flights. I searched 23 June and back a week later. I think it was the same price ex SYD to LAX. But i haven’t checked any of the timings.

Look to get to Jakarta and then a flight from there if needing to go in J. Cheap as you can to Jakarta and then Business from there. Posts further down in this sub forum show deals from Qatar and also you can get decent deals on ANA.

had a look at different options and coultn find anything worthwhile.

best ive seen so far is 3.7k for qantas and 4.6k airnz
