First overseas holiday in 7 years was going to be PER-NRT/KIX-HKG/HKG-PER departing April 11, returning April 27.

Cathay pulled the HKG - Japan flights for March but as of today are still flying in April.

The Do Not Travel announcement extinguished the Travel Insurance coverage I held, and so I reluctantly cancelled on Tuesday.

Side note: despite the website suggesting otherwise, getting a refund from Cathay is not proving easy - the "system" does not recognise my flights as being eligible for refund. And TID's website is not showing the policy I purchased in January against my user profile, so I'm having a tedious time making a claim for my accommodation through them.

Life was not meant to be easy.
Though Malcolm fraser's speech writer never forgave him for not reading the whole quote by George Bernard Shaw.
"Life wasn't meant to be easy, my child, but take courage: it can be delightful!"

Nah it's still months and months away. There will be a vaccine by then. :)

If not I'll bring up some Mount Mary to Brisvegas to share with you, @TheRealTMA.

Hope so but reality suggests there wont be a vaccine before 2021. (Plus consider the logistics of producing enough vaccine for 25 Million people let alone 7.7 Billion.)

Better treatments should be available by then such as chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine which seem promising as do some anit-virus and HIV drugs.

Looking fwd to the MM but we'll all be in lockdown :)

Just got 2 x emails from VA for our August flights, separate bookings.

My booking is now routed via Melb and click to accept.

His booking is now cancelled, heres a credit to be used during administration period only.

Makes no sense.

Our mid-July trip to South Africa has morphed into a trip to FNQ!

We're catching the train (!) to Cairns in Seat Bed class or whatever it's called. It looks pretty nice actually and for a 25 hour train trip with meals and a lie flat bed is decent value at $390 each. Three nights in Cairns overlooking the water then up to Palm Cove and our LE at The Reef House for five nights. Then we venture further north to the Daintree for two nights, Cape Trib for four, back to Port Douglas for a night before flying QF back home to Brisbane.

If we can't see the big five I at least want to see a cassowary!

Hopefully the borders are well and truly open for our trips to Kangaroo Island and Canberra in October and November.

A NY seven night cruise back to FNQ (Carnival, eek!) still booked as well but I have a feeling the Oz cruise season will be canned this year.

Nothing booked for next year at all yet :(

Apart from a trip to CHC for the AFF catch up in March all of our international trips have been cancelled. At the moment I am not even sure about future domestic. When @LadyC starts the 2021 Travel Plans thread I am not even sure what our plans will be. At the moment the only thing that maybe on the cards in 2021 is Canada, MrsM has not yet given up on PEI.

I dare not at this point - it might be sitting rather empty for a while. I'm much more inclined to start a thread on 'how many holidays itineraries have you planned whilst you have been in isolation'? 😆

All my domestic and international travel plans for 2020 are now officially dead. I do have an award booking to Japan and home via Shanghai for Jan/Feb 2021, but that will probably not happen either :(

MrsK and I took the plunge and booked The Reef House in Palm Cove for next June through one of the Luxury Escape deals - as our annual "Escape from Canberra in Winter" trip. We should be able to get into Qld by then. For the next few years, we're planning to explore Australia, and there is a lot to see, as I personally don't think there is much hope of international travel until the start of 2022.

Im going to try to find something more local for Chrissy - Im not staying home for this poop show plus family obligations.

Ive always wanted to do Snowy Mountains or Vic High Country in summer - might spend some time Googling this weekend.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Think the hardest thing is coming to acceptance that 2020 is not going to be the year of international travel and interests would be best served by coming up with a palatable Plan B and getting it booked before everyone else realises the same thing.
