So what did you manage this year? Did you get to go somewhere new, or was it just the weekly commute?

I managed 81 flights and just over 150,000 miles.

New airports: AMS, BLR, CGK, CMB, DEL, EDI, ICN and JHB
Shortest flight: KUL-JHB (155 miles)

Best new experience: Same as new aircraft and shortest flight

Not much for me this year

Sectors: 23
Miles: 35,399
New Airport: GCM
Shortest Flight: ADL-MEL
Longest Flight: AKL-IAH

Well I did comparatively pretty poorly especially with regard to flights and miles.

11 Flights

Miles: Just under 25,000
New Airports: BWN, ARN & OSL
New Airlines: SK & BI
No new aircraft but a new variant with a QR A350-1000
Longest Flight: OSL - DIA
Shortest Flight: Sin - BWN (794 miles)
Best New Experience: QR QSuites in the A350-1000

A busy enough year for us, 19 flights, 69,965 km

New airlines: TP, AE
New airports: IST, ATH, BUD, LIS, ORY
Shortest flight: BUD-VIE
Longest flight: SIN-IST
Not sure on the new aircraft
Best New Experience: the new Turkish Airlines lounge at the new IST airport

An interesting year for me, way down on the mileage but up on the number of flights, and 13 new airports.

Flights: 114
Miles: 224,203
New Airlines: QR
New Airports: BLL, AUS, IAH, SEA, PDX, PRG, CLT, RSW, ZUH, FCO, RIC, LGA, DOH
Shortest Flight: SEA-PDX
Longest Flight: SYD-DOH
New Aircraft: Dornier 328-300
Best New Experience: QR F

For me

69187 miles
38 flights

New airports: IAD / DCA, DFW

Longest series of flights: DCA-DFW-SFO-SYD-CBR. Came in at 30 hours of travel.

Best flight: SFO-MEL: QF B787 in J / 1A

Worst flight: SFO-SYD: QF B747 in Y with broken IFE. (That aircraft was retiring within the week, so they decided just to fly it without IFE and not bother fixing it)

Best memory: Too hard to chose, loved DC, loved HKG (again, and despite the troubles).

Best lounge: AA Flagship at DFW

Most improved airline award: A tie between AA and AS.

A slow year for me; being grounded pre-baby and then taking time out post-baby slowed things down a bit. Though said baby is already well-flown.

20 flights
61,000km

6Y, 10J, 4F
Longest flights SYD-DFW and LAX-MEL (both in F)

New airports: RIC, USM
New airline: silk air

A landmark year for me, as not one domestic sector! Two OZ-Europe trips, only nine sectors, for 31,787 miles. All on AY and their partners (QF, CX). Love the AY A350s. Amongst the flights was the last regularly scheduled 747 on QF128, sitting up in the bubble.
No new airports, but some great new memories from steam trains rides in the UK to walking on the Normandy invasion beaches, locating the grave of a great uncle killed on the Somme in 1917, and discovering Far Breton in St Malo.

31 flights 35745 miles
Longest flight MEL-SIN(3744 miles) Shortest (BLR-MAA 167 miles) (DPS-SUB 188 miles)

New countries Maldives
New airports
MLE - Male
cough - Kochi
BLR - Bengaluru
MAA - Chennai
SUB - Surabaya
JOG - Yogyakarta
HBA - Hobart
LST - Launceston

New Airlines
D7 Air Asia X
AK Air Asia
I5 Air Asia India
QZ Air Asia Indonesia
QG Citilink Indonesia

My son is still young enough to want to fly the most economical flight offered on our way to visit India.
KUL KLIA2 with a 6 hour lay over and no lounge was "boring" even for him.

Next year's flying should yield QFF LTS (almost as functional as my AA LTG.....), as longer trips are planned.
Happy wandering
Fred

56 sectors

108,249 miles

New airlines: Turkmenistan Airlines, Air Astana, Interjet, Air India, Sri Lankan, Alaska Airlines

Most 'different' sector: Nome, Alaska-Anadyr, Far E Russia, return, Bering Air Beechcraft 1900D charter.

Longest flight: LAX-DOH QR QSuites (again).

Plus: 3 sectors DRW-Faraway Bay-Mitchell Falls-DRW Cessna Grand Caravan and 4 Bell Long Ranger helo sightseeing flights out of Mitchell Falls.

This year has been ABSOLUTELY phenomenal for me. Did a jaunt to sth america early on, but apart from that I escaped the year with just a couple of domestic flights.

Have not been tracking as due to some personal tech glitch I cannot access the flight tracker thingy anymore on AFF, but I think I have gone from about 200 flights/400,000km to 10 flights/30,000km. And I am ten years younger :)

Longest flight: SYD-SCL
Shortest flight: BNE-SYD
Most enjoyed flight: SYD-MCY (getting home :))
Airlines travelled: just QF in tiny doses. (hard to reject with almost lost P1 status)
New airports: NONE and that feels great.
New countries: NIL, and that feels even better.

So, from my jaded perspective, having now sampled life again as a normal person, flying is bad for you. But next year I am on the bus again - Chile/Colombia/Bolivia/Tahiti/ New Zealand/Thailand/Vietnam/London/Paris. And some more. Just without a QF tie. I will also travel to somewhere I have dreaded since childhood - that obscure backwater full of mindless perils - Tasmania!

Very quiet year compared to last years 61 flights across 10 international trips.

17 flights 51299 miles
New airlines: Vietnam Airlines

Shortest flight: SGN-DAD (376 miles)
Longest fight: MEL-LAX
New country: Vietnam
New airports: SGN, DAD, HAN, PHX, SBA, ATL, LGA, JFK

Highlights included
- QF F with companion dining
- Vietnam vacation
- Two separate business trips to the US where Mrs Hockey Monkey’s business travel also aligned so we could add on a vacation

Another slow year here.

No of flights: 15 flights
Distance flown: 45,185 kilometers (28077 miles)
Countries visited: 4 - Morocco, Germany, UK, Switzerland
New country: Morocco
New Airports: AUS, RAK

A mostly unremarkable year though I did enjoy Morocco immensely and would return in the right circumstances.

A quieter year than last with 85 flights totalling 125,038 kms (compared to 2018 with 113 flights for 173,000kms). The usual 90/10 split - 90% domestic, 90% economy, 90% work related. But at this rate I should hit LTG next year :)

No of flights: 85
Distance: 125,038 kms
Shortest flight: BNE-HVB 230kms, just pipping CBR-SYD by 5 kms
Longest flight: SIN-LHR
Countries visited: 5
New Country/Airport: Sri Lanka
New Airline: UL

Highlights:
  • Visiting Sri Lanka for my son's wedding, taking the family along with us
  • Finding out I could buy fridges and washing machines in the Duty Free shops at Colombo Airport on arrival
  • Swapping my Bus Class seat with my mother on the trip over, and after many protests she agreed and went up front, to be greeted by the CSM as "...the lady who had been thrown out of Economy"

A quick count, 48 segments,

New airports: Yangon, Mandalay, Berlin Schoenefeld, Budapest, Phu Quoc.

New airlines: Golden Myanmar, Myanmar National Airlines.

Countires visited, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Finland, Germany, Poland, Czech Rep, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy (Sardinia), NZ, Myanmar and Vietnam both new.

Airlines flown: Qantas, Qatar, Lufthansa, Finnair, Golden Myanmar, Myanmar National, Thai Smile, Easyjet, Air Asia, JetStar (Asia), MH and probably more.

Highlights, Laos, love that place, Rally Finland.

Biggest kerfuffle: being refused boarding in Canberra on Qantas to Sydney due to my so called damaged passport. Worked out ok in the end, if not better, Qatar straight out of Canberra, and I got to go to the Finnish Grand Prix, which wasn't planned originally.

Next year is looking good, once the bosses foot/ankle is sorted! More rallies, Safari Rally in Kenya, Portugal and Sardinia and NZ, more new countries in Southern Africa

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I'm having trouble with GCM

I put it the details and save changes and then when I go to the list or go to the next one and then come back to it, changes to the bottom image.

I've tried deleting the whole flight and adding it again and it just won't play nice. It's happening to quite a few of my flights. Any suggestions?
