Not being the overly sentimental type, being the 1st of Jan and all that, I was thinking about my New Year resolutions even though this is somewhat foreign to me o_O. I've never previously needed New Year resolutions ... the path forward has always been very clear without some bogus "I'm going to do this" regalia!

I mentioned my future plans to +1 but for some odd reason, was met with wide eyes, a look of horror and silence. In our 32, or whatever it is, years together, I've never before witnessed absolute silence (even during the times when she wished to disembowel me ;)). I thought I may have tipped her over the edge (the edge is never that far away, mind you ).

After just paying a ridiculous and extortionate amount for a new kitchen for her, I didn't really want her to cash in the chips, so I asked her what was bothering her (bloody sensitive new age guy I am). Much to my bewilderment, she is not that thrilled with my plans.

I'm totally lost. She wants to visit Europe (ho, hum) and other equally despicable hovels. I just want to build a house at Buna village in PNG and relax and enjoy. No where in Oz can I have a house right on the beach, and as I remind her I'm yet to have local teens in Oz bring us freshly caught crayfish for breakfast!

So leaving my dilemmas behind ... and slightly off the normal "what is" question ... how did you get on with the reception of your 2019 New Year Resolutions?? :D

My wife is in complete agreement that we will not be flying Indonesia Air Asia...

...and that another visit to Europe is a high priority!

Well I have made no New Year's resolutions so no disagreements from mrsdrron.

The gentleman was fully supportive of my new years resolution which is to stop wearing make up. Although it is not strictly a new years resolution, I did commit to myself that I would not hold off undertaking the travels that interest me (within financial reason of course). With both my parents having died at a pre-retirement age, it is motivation to live in the now and do the things I really want to do.

Hmmm, I think I can see where the problem may lie

I can see where you went wrong ... you forgot to buy her a new iron and new vacuum cleaner to go with her new kitchen.

Well I got a new pop up toaster ... does that count?
I also remember winning a Cold Chisel CD when our local radio station had a phone in competition of who got the worst Chrissie present. My darling +1 had given me a can of BBQ cleaner!

Females are always practical and she is probably concerned about the ability of the rescue chopper to whisk you away to the world class hospital nearby…..
Compromise is your friend here… for every 3 months of crayfish breakfasts, a week in a tin tube exploring old blighty

I don't make resolutions , but if I did it would likely be a wish to have a more interesting 2019 as it's looking pretty ordinary atm….

Buna has a brand new haus sik that was only just opened in September and there is no worries putting a medivac chopper down, either! I've already compromised. We're off to Europe later this year. ;)
