Polish driver Robert Kubica has announced his return to F1 in 2019.
Kubica will be joining George Russell at Williams.

It's definitely going to be an interesting year with substantial Aero rule changes and Red Bull changing engines to Honda.

And almost every team having a driver change and at present four brand new drivers coming up from lower formats.

With Stroll effectively confirmed for whatever Force India is next year, just leaves the final Torro Rosso seat - will it be Hartley or yet another new driver

And it's Hartley out, former RB jnr and Brit/Thai Albon in. Makes five rookies plus Kubica

Interesting to see Kubica did end up making it back in, interesting choice.

Are any of the races being shown free to air this year?

My interest in F1 went downhill from after 2010, and needing to pay to watch it was the nail in the coffin.

Come across to the dark side and watch some rallying from the WRC, for what it's worth, Kubica and Raikkonen couldn't make the top in this formula.

My interest in F1 declined when bernie got his greedy little mits involved.

Even WRC has become a bit gentrified, but that's in comparison to decades ago!! Yes must rekindle that interest a bit.

Bernie has had his plastic nose in it for a while though, since late 90's??

But now F1 is under new management, who seem to understand that a procession of billboards isn't actually what F1 fans want.

Still won't be giving a cent to Ruperts empire just to watch F1.

I suspect only the Melbourne race will be shown FTA in AU.

If you want to watch races live then Fox Sports and maybe Kayo (new sports streaming service) may be the only legal (albeit paid) option. I'm not paying to watch F1 if this season is similar to the last few years (Mercedes dominant).

For the free options there may be online workarounds with VPNs and/or overseas based streaming sites, may require decent internet speeds and could still be dubious quality.

The other free option is to go into complete social media and internett, TV, and radio blackout during all of Monday and watch the rather truncated and confusing highlights on 10''s Bold FTA if they are broadcasting the highlights on Mon night. I assume that races were unavailable on 10 Play"s online streaming service last year?

Aside from EPL F1 is probably the most difficult sport to access in Australia.

If this season starts to look like last season I might start to investigate whether it's possible/Feasible to start watching Indycar.

I have come to 'an arrangement' with a friend who has Foxtel, as I have Netflix.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I like the Haas and Williams schemes. The Renault one is as expected (but unexciting). Will be interesting to see how much black and yellow shows up in Melbourne.

Re: lack of FTA: We get a group of us together and watch at a mate's place (who has foxtel). For the real middle of the night races (after midnight start time), we usually time delay (record) and watch monday night.

I don't think even highlights are being shown anymore..I may be wrong.

I had heard rumours of that too, if so that's so very petty, its was a 24hr delay anyway and I'm sure the excuse is that it didn't rate highly . Its almost like they want people to explore illegal or alternative sources of viewing.o_O

As per JeccicaTams post - I will also be swapping/sharing Foxtel and Netflix subscriptions with another F1 fan.

Here's hoping for a good season of racing in 2019 because I don't think the sport will survive another season or two of processions, hopefully the Renault and Honda engine guys have extracted another 50hp out of their engines this year so we can see some racing.
