So normally there are some great deals to be had thanks to Qantas, last few years there have been some 20% coupons and whatnot... anyone aware of any similar promotions going on at present?

The current QFF $1750 corporate pass is over the top... would love 20% off some grand stand tix :p

+1 on this actually, any ideas? I don't think I'll be able to top last years seat ;)

'fraid not, I folded and bought a ticket in the Moss Grandstand.

I'm selling 2 x Webber Grandstand tickets as a result of nabbing that SPG package - race day, section F, row J, seated together. Face value = $224 each. Will put them up on eBay, should get close to face value but if anyone else is interested. ... Will be on eBay tomorrow.

The Grand Prix in Melbourne now loses at least $50 million each year and is increasingly having to give away tickets to maintain any semblance of attendees. It is disruptive to local residents and not well watched overseas, the latter being one of its key supposed justifications.

Melbourne would be wise to discontinue this expensive event when the contract comes up for renewal.

The only winner is a certain chap with a Christian name starting with 'B.'

Please go back to obsessing over QF9/10.

And for what it's worth I calculate in my head at least $5,000 I have spent on flights, accommodation, tickets, food, entertainment etc etc over the past 4 times I've been to the GP.

Must...Fly!, you may well have spent that money, but you are one of a declining number who do. Unlike the Australian Open, the Melbourne Cup or AFL football there's scant evidence that the Grand Prix is positive for Melbourne economically or socially.

Those who have been to the Grand Prix tell me that it isn't even much of a spectacle, yet it ties up an otherwise reasonably attractive public park and (admittedly artifical) lake for weeks before and after the event.

The vast majority of Melburnians do not and never have attended. The money would be better spent on hospitals and transport infrastructure.

Make up your mind Melburnian1, on one hand you say a declining number of people travel to attend the race despite increasing attendances in recent years, and on the other no one living in Melbourne attends???

Must...Fly!, I said that the vast majority of Melburnians do not and never have attended.

This doesn't mean 'no Melburnian has attended.'

It's a free world and you are free to attend, but unfortunately our community in Victoria spends far more on this annual schemozzle than you and your colleagues bring in indirect or direct tourism revenue. Net benefit to Victoria: negative.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I will trade 100k united miles for SPG whoever wants to bid on the SPG sunday package ( should it be won for similar SPG points )

Have taken up one of the 15,000 point offers. A great deal considering it is from a 20,000 point sign-up bonus for the UK SPG Amex in November :) Absolutely cannot wait.

FWIW, I lived in St Kilda for a while and relished the F1 circus coming to town, disruption effects notwithstanding.

ahh but in the true AFF spirit!! I have 100k united miles and i value them at a VIP day at the GP. So a win win and no $$$$ changes hand would be the ideal outcome.

Cheers Nath

You can purchase Starpoints ... ;)

Not 100% sure of the value though.
