Thank you for the heads up locopano. I note that you alerted us this time last year. Does it happen August each year? And only once per year?

Hi, it appears it happens once a year judging that for at least the last 3 years running it has been this way and is usually in the US summer July/August

Previous years
- July 2014
- July - Early August 2015

Note that I've also seen a similar promotion for Alaskan Airlines miles once before in the even that those points interest you.

Thank you, very valuable information. I assure you locopano (crazy bread?), however, that if the unexpected happens next year, I will not take it personally!

Do these bonuses ever apply for transfers to Mileage Plus?

My recollection is that the UA conversion rate is so poor that it would have to be an amazing bonus
Oh you are right. SPG to MileagePlus at 2:1 is very poor. SQ is just as poor with horrendous surcharges.

With the marriott merger it seems you can get nearly 1.5 United MP for 1 SPG-a big improvement
Given how much attention this merger terms and the options it opens up, surprising there is not much talk here on the same. I agree this is a big (and very useful) change.

I for one am very excited about the changes. Have been spending the day looking at Marriott redemption and conversion options. What we need now is a 25% bonus on United miles conversions like they had back in March.
