I had wondered why two Hiltons were named - but the description didn't indicate it (I wondered if there was one building part Residences, part normal Hilton or something). But this article clears things up a little better:

A 178-room 5-star hotel will be named Hilton Queenstown and a 4-star hotel featuring 98 one-bedroom apartment-style rooms will be known as the "Kawarau Hotel, managed by Hilton".

It's good to see a Hilton turn up there.

2 Hiltons will be rather interesting, but great to see Hilton making more presence in NZ and in ZQN no less. Might encourage me to go back to TLOTLWC some time.

Only thing is that since it's ZQN, will the prices be extortionate all the time?

But on hilton.com accepting bookings from June 4th.Hilton Queenstown from $NZ295.
Kawarau from $NZ210-both if booked for 1 person,but for hhonors members spouse stays free.2 person rate is extra $20 at Kawarau and $25 at Hilton.

There is no mention of them through the Hilton Macquarie web site as yet.
