2 AA2482 flights over Phoenix

Seems like quick ATC thinking has avoided a potential disaster in Phoenix skies as 2 different AA2482 flights were in the skies roughly on course with each other a few days ago. One was a very delayed flight inbound arrival from ORD whilst the other was a departure for the return leg that AA got another aircraft to operate the leg.

Mad props to the ATC to solve that in real time. You could hear his brain ticking and working out what's going on.
