Easier said than done. Emirates don't sell tix to/from lots of destinations in Europe. Most of Western and Southern Europe is covered but this cannot be said about East and North Europe. So, separate tix are unfortunately unevitable.

iirc, If you book through an agent or with the airline, they should be able to sell a ticket onwards on another carrier but with the protection of a single booking ( end-on-end ticketing )

I prefer to buy my tix through airline websites and even as we speak Emirates website does not recognize such cities as CPH, ARN, HEL etc. At least not for outbound flights.

I expect that EK telesales would have no difficulty finding those locations. I would rather book by phone(if can get suitable prices) and be protected than make 2 bookings on 2 websites and then be responsible for sorting out problems if things go askew

To me, websites have their uses but for some bookings they are not so good

If the cost to get a protected itinerary is too much more expensive then I would book separately but tend to try and put an overnight stop at points where changing tickets

But when booking by phone then one misses out on the online booking bonus which at EK can be pretty generous. I guess there are pros and cons for everything.

Actually, recalling the autumn of 2007 when mom had a pretty tight connection in ATH, I called EK and asked them to make a mark in her PNR that she is connecting from another flight. The agent asked me to wait while she checked whether EK sold their own tix for RIX-ATH-DXB SYD and discovered that they didn't, so she made a mark in the PNR.
