Hi All
Have booked the Family (2 adults 3 kids ages 21,18,16) to fly SYD -SIN- HKT and return HKT-BKK-SYD all in discount Y October this year.

I would like ask AFF members if they have flown this route and for ANY tips, advice would be appreciated.

SYD-SIN is QF 81
SIN-HKT is Jetstar Asia
Then
HKT-BKK is Bangkok Airlines
BKK-SYD is QF24

Also would it be a good idea to join Mrs dolfie2 as a partner QP to ensure some sort of lounge access given the kids ages.

I hope this posts ok ,not real experienced at doing this

With thanks

Qantas Club membership will only allow for one guest. Your kids seem old enough that you could just give them a fist full of dollars and leave them to their own devices while you and your wife enjoy the F lounges.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for your reply elbarto,
but would prefer to have lounge access together as a family going on a family holiday(F Lounge would be nice but anyway)
How strict are the receptions at the QP international lounges?

Only SYD has an F lounge. The SIN lounge is just a general lounge now and BKK is the old business lounge.

If both you and your wife were able to guest one person then I would say you had a good chance of all 3 children allowed access to the lounges in SIN and BKK.

Are you able to purchase a partner Qantas club membership as a Platinum and would the cost be worth it? Your layover in BKK is short.

Yes I can purchase Partner QC membership,as I rang Qantas Club today and the gentleman told me to wait until until just before we fly in October to maximise QC Membership and we will get access as you have said.
He also said to keep an eye out for any possible QC specials that could come out by the end of the financial year(I was trying to get QC waiver the partner joining fee as a platinum).

If the lounges are as nice as the Canberra J lounge and to have the family with me then I think that its worth it ,if they're not well never mind.

In my opinion the business lounges in SIN and BKK are quite OK. Variety of food and soft drinks, variety of wines, spirits and Tiger and Carlsberg beer in SIN and Tiger and Singha beer in BKK.
