Hi all!

I will be arriving in AUH from LHR in a few days time at 0730. I'll be departing at 2005 for PER.

I'm a VA platinum so after arriving in AUH I'll head to the lounge for breakfast then catch the A1 bus into the city. Later that day I will catch the A1 back for dinner in the lounge and the flight.

That leaves about 10 hours in the city itself, I'll have nothing with me... Any tips? I have a blank slate. Also looking for a "local food" suggestion for lunch.

As far as what I'm after? A bit of everything! But let's keep the cultural sites to a minimum. Maybe a visit to a particularly beautiful or large mosque?

A nap somewhere would be good too (working as soon as I land in PER), but I checked prices for a day and they're pretty ridiculous.

Really appreciate any suggestions.

Hi VB,
we have a a 8hr overnight transit in AUH tomorrow, and have booked a room at the Premier Inn at the airport for a sleep.

About $75AUD when we booked.

I will let you know how it goes.

What dates are you both here...? I'm staying here (AUH) 3-6 Nov.

Really appreciate any suggestions.
I have just got back from there and would highly recommend getting to the Grand Mosque: Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre Abu Dhabi which isn't far from the airport.
You could also head down to the Corniche and have a leisurely walk along the beach area. There are changing rooms there if you take a towel and togs.
If you prefer a mall then go to Al Wahda next to the bus station.

Taxis are cheap and plentiful.

Really happy with the Premier Inn - clean, new, quiet, inexpensive: we got a great sleep.

Could not fault it.

I agree the mosque is amazing.

For the absolute reverse of culture you could try Ferrari World. I enjoyed a good three or four hours there.
