Yep, pretty peeved that CBA's not participating again, especially as transferring to Velocity is the only thing I use those points for :(

Virgin knows CBA cardholders have no other option, so why offer a bonus? All other cards can transfer to at least SQ, most CX and some MH.

They could always just a easily redeem to credit at Flight Centre (or associated brands like Escape Travel, Travel Associates etc) as I have seen times where that is a more effective use of CBA points - depends on who has what at what time. So they are not all out of options.

However, add me to the list pissed that CBA is not included in this - I have been hanging out for weeks for this promo to come out and now I'm not feeling the love :(

Switch maybe?

It's not too hard to find a better Velocity earning option than CBA - even some free credit cards earn more than some CBA Rewards cards!

I'd hate to transfer my AMEX MR ones as they are pretty valuable for other frequent flyer programs depending on the time I want to use them.

But I have Citibank that I didn't quite have the stupid minimum amount to transfer (15k Citi Rewards per transfer) at the last promotion. Now, I can't transfer over with the amount I got. GRRR....

Damn no Citi is disappointing.

Been waiting for this promo To transfer 400,000 ANZ and 130,00 amex mr points across to Virgin to fly the family to London next year. Just peeved my 50,000 ANZ promo hasn't credited yet!

Worth the wait with or without the 50,000..well done!

does anyone know when we can convert velocity points to krisflyer and at what conversation rate?

last time I transferred from Amex the bonus points were credited with the transfer. IIRC it was the next day, though I did the trasnfer early morning but not sure if that was the reason.

Looks like slower this time.

I transferred on Saturday and as of Cinderalla time Monday night have still not landed. Website does say upto 3 days though.

Blinking flip! I've been sitting on 250K CBA points for a long time and I see no chance to convert them here. I'm probably going to ditch the card soon so I'll want to run those points down.

What are the earning options for earning 1.5 va points per dollar with the ato other than CBA?

I submitted a westpac altitude transfer request before business hours Monday morning, they hit my account around the middle of the day today (with bonus points attached). Very healthy promo - I'm just hoping I wouldn't have been better off sending them to Krisflyer first!

Points hit sometime before 3PM today (Tuesday).

I have now booked 2 one-way J's MEL to Nairobi on Eitihad.

I had booked originally with Qatar via QFF as those flights opened earlier and I wanted to be sure we had the flights as we have a fixed tour departure. I was always intending to try swapping to Eithad as taxes and points (110,000) were lower, but was hoping a bonus would come along to sweeten the deal.

An effective 95,652 points and $77 in taxes each is a lot better than the 121,000 and $397 each we had paid. I am now 40,695K (Had to pay 5K each to cancel) and $640 better off.

only problem there is ,you still have those S****Y QFF pts.
I would have been getting rid of them.
:D
I would rather have a stack of VA than QF banked.

As this bonus started just before VA and KF announce the details, it probably already hinting us it won't be 1:1.

Has it occurred to anyone that almost all the "participating" credit cards can be transferred to KF as well at the same rate as VA? So they are trying to lure people into converting CC points to VA points rather than KF, but only to find out that the transfer ratio is something terrible, that they should've convert the points to KF directly.

I did transfer some points tho as I have a VA redemption in mind and I'm 17000 miles short. But I just converted enough for the redemption and decide to sit on the rest of my altitude points and see what happens. VA and KF should announce the details sometimes in Nov, if it's 1:1, then it won't be too late to convert to VA and still get the bonus, and convert to KF later.

Yes I tend to only move points to FF programs like VA for specific redemptions.

What is best varies:
> Earn/Burn Ratio
> Fuel Fines ( as fuel fines or not can make a significant difference)
> Availability - Especially for 2 or more flying together
> Directness/Inconvenience of available routes
> Available stopovers that may or may not be a plus
> The planes

In my case ET via VA was best overall compared to *A via SQ for getting to Nairobi. FF point slightly higher after the 15%, but taxes way lower and everything else better too.
