Using points to Solomon Islands

This is turning into a real challenge. I know about QF flying BNE-HIR-BNE, But with Woolies being so chintzy about bonus point offers, it gets more difficult to earn QF for a retired person.

I do have Avios but I can't seem to find the QF flights on either BA or QR Avios sites. HIR would be the same band as Fiji and Vanuatu so theoretically it should be 11k Avios. You can't select HIR as a destination with Avios even though both QF and FJ fly there.

Is there any way to use points for Solomon Airlines, any lesser known partnerships?

It's always been tricky booking with QF points to HIR. I've always resorted to phoning QF to get them done. I suggest it would be even moreso with Avios. So I think a call to BA would be necessary.

As an aside: It was always very easy to book on VA with points when they used to fly there and you were almost always had a row of seats to yourself. Alas, those days are over.

Especially since VA points are easier to get via Flybuys!

If there's availability with Qantas, you can book with either BA or QR Avios but it won't be possible to book online!

The reason for this is that QF flights don't appear on the Qatar Airways website, and because this route is operated by QantasLink, it also won't appear on the BA website. I'd suggest checking availability on the American Airlines, Alaska Airlines or Finnair website, then calling BA or QR to book with Avios if you can find availability on those other websites.

No luck with AA, can't select HIR. But Alaska has it for 7.5k miles! The problem is I have nothing that transfers to AS.

Others will have a better gauge, but I recall buying AS miles is on the more affordable side.

If it's available to book with Alaska miles, it should also be available with Avios but you will have to call BA or QR to check/book.
