Does anyone own a Garmin Fenix 8?

My Fenix 6 pro has died. Garmin will sell me a refurbished model for $300 or I go something new. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the Fenix 8 and whether you have the AMOLED or MIPS display.

For me, the battery life of the AMOLED seems a bit weak. I'm also not sure I can see $1500 worth of value in going the Fenix 8 at this point in time.

Oh no don’t tell me they die. I love my 6 pro. The battery life, especially when using it as designed for tracking activities is great. I wouldn’t want anything with less. Unless you do serious cardio training and can get value from the new metrics, I would go with the refurb or find a heavily discounted 7. DCRainmaker the best place for reviews.

Likewise "my" 6 pro is amazing .... so amazing mr k_sheep stole it from me and bought me the far inferior forerunner in exchange ... to be fair it was comically oversized on my itty bitty wrist.

I woke up yesterday and the watch was off. Had over 50% charge when I went to sleep. Couldn't get it to turn on and charging did nothing. A quick Google suggested this was terminal. I contacted Garmin's phone support and they came to the same conclusion. Hence the offer of the $300 refurb.

I don't need any of the new metrics. I suppose buying another Fenix 6 I know it's pretty much EOL and not getting feature updates. The 7 is also a couple of generations old so the 7 pro could be an option, but pricing is still north of $1k. So again, not sure what value I'm getting there.

Decisions decisions....

I assuming Garmin walked you through the soft and hard reset options by holding down the power button for 25sec+ and then a combination of buttons? That restored an old bike computer.

They did.

Landed up opting for the refurb. Features of the Fenix 8 aren't worth another $1.5k to me.
