Hi all, at 205cm tall, I cannot sit in a normal airplane seat - an exit row or extra legroom seat is a definite requirement. Not many airlines or airplanes have extra legroom seats that aren’t deemed as exit row seats and on Jetstar, if you have a child with you on the flight, you are prohibited from sitting in an exit row, even if your child sits elsewhere on the plane in a normal seat. I understand why this rule is in place. For Jetstar, I have discovered that their Airbus A321s have two seats (12A & F) that have extra legroom (no seat in front of them) and are not deemed exit row seats, thereby allowing me to fly with my son sitting beside me on the same flight (just the two of us). However, I don’t know how often Jetstar substitute A321s for other aircraft (e,g, A320) which do not have any extra legroom seats that are not exit row seats.
Does anyone know how often they substitute A321s for A320s on routes like MEL-CNS or MEL-OOL?
And in the event of substitution, whether they would let me sit in an exit row seat, while my son is seated elsewhere?
Or is my only option to fly VA in rows 3, 4, or 5? (No idea if Qantas have extra legroom seats that aren’t exit row seats, or allow you to sit in an exit row seat if you have a child seated elsewhere).

EDIT: I have checked further and Qantas has the same rule for exit row seats as Jetstar (unsurprisingly), whilst Virgin Australia does not appear to have any rules for exit row seats prohibiting you having a child sitting elsewhere on the plane that I could find.
