5th May QF9 diverted to MLE - medical emergency

I heard on the radio this morning that QF9 diverted to MLE due to a medical emergency. It was stated that the plane had been on the ground there for three hours with pax still onboard while they figure out a plan.

Careful what you ask for Male the city isn't great at all. You really want to be shipped off to an atoll

I wonder what will happen if they do take the pax off the plane and put them up in accommodation. You're not allowed to bring any alcohol into the Maldives. I suspect there would be a few pax carrying some duty free booze. What happens in such situations?

I also wonder if QF will send crew to bring the plane back to Australia and re-accomodate the pax onto London on flights operated by EK or QR. Or would they send crew to continue the journey which I suspect would take much longer then for pax to get to their final destination.

I'm surprised the crew ran out of hours at MLE. Couldn't they have flown on to the ME or SIN?
