80 Hours in Tokyo

This is the JR Yamanote (Tokyo Loop Line) line overlaid on Sydney. The line has 30 stations, each 2-3 mins travel apart, and stops at most of the major stations in central Tokyo (some of which are also the busiest train stations in the world).
The numbers are the travel time between the highlighted stations.

Hamamatsuchō, the city end of the airport Monorail, is 2 mins travel south of Shimbashi. Tokyo Station is where the 10 marker is south of Akihabara. The Keikyu line from Haneda goes to Shinagawa.

We got Pasmo cards on arrival at HND and loaded it with JPY3000, using on Tokyo trains only was almost empty within 36hours so then put another JPY5000 more on it, and have a balance of approx $1.5k each left so will be hunting for the refund office at HND after bag drop tomorrow.

We mostly used Monorail and Yamanote line, with a few others for connections was a bit shocked we spent about AUD$69 in about 70hours (separately bought express excursion tickets to Fuji but it rained so saw nothing).

It can rack up quickly if you just hop on hop off all the time and also cross mix companies.

Like for example from HND to my friends place i have 3 choices according to Gmaps. Monorail into JR into subway (priciest at about 900 odd yen) because it changes into 3 different companies. Option two is monorail into JR into walk an extra 4mins (200 yen cheaper). Or finally just taking the keikyu subway into another toei line (400 odd yen cheaper but i end up at the same station as option 1).

Gmaps is not the best at working out preferences on its default. Not to mention it loves recommending buses right now which is absolutely bonkers sometimes.

I also just pay for things on my suica as well like drinks and such or at vending machines.

Home now, there was no where to get a refund at HND before 6am and our flight boarded at 6:20 so we ended up spending balance at souvenir store post security as the duty free wouldn't accept it.

Whilst my partner won't go back, I missed out on Capybarra Cafe and seeing Fuji do will go back one day to see more.
