10000 Points with Red Energy

Okay, I’ve done the maths, and switching from Alinta’s 28% discount off usage rates to Red Energy’s Red Saver (not Red Plus) 10% of total bill plan (not just usage like Alinta) works out $2.50 per quarter cheaper for me (in Qld, elec only). It took me an hour to work it out, but I compared my last Alinta account to what I would be paying had I been with Red Energy’s Red Saver plan, and it works out a fraction cheaper ($2.50) AND I get 10000 Qantas points, AND 2 points per $1 spent on bill. I also supplied a “refer a friend” number that someone from here posted, so we/I will get a $50 Coles/Myer voucher apparently (not sure if that is still a current incentive though as there’s was no reference to it when I signed up) AND I can pay with my AMEX card to get those reward points as well.

The $50 CML GC is only available via telephone sign ups AFAIK.

Is there a standard day that electricty providers are switched over? Is that the end of every month?

It depends on your state and when the provider takes the monthly meter reading. Red Energy and or your current provider can tell you that.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the amex statement credit to be paid for momentum energy?

Usually immediately or within five business days, but sometimes longer.

I have personally registered 6 of my Amex cards for this promo so will be prepaying my first bill using all 6 cards all at once. And then upon second bill change names to second household person so that they can get the 15k points on offer as well. Once all points received will churn to another provider.

Based on my historical usage and known Red Energy rates, after roughly 2 months my electricity and gas bill will come to about $400. Having used my 6 Amex cards upon first bill I get 6 x $50 Amex credits ($300) + $50 CML GC (Referral) + 2 x 15K QFF Points (arbitrary value 1.0 cpp so say $300). Net gain is $250 + Amex spend points. Red Energy will bank transfer me the credit remaining in my account.

So I've now switched from Red to Energy Australia for the 20k velocity points and got a call from Red today asking why I hadn't even waited for the first bill to switch! Couldn't tell them I did it for the points so just said my other half made the decision. Easy 15k points!

Have you received the Velocity points from EA? do you know how long it will take?

When did you receive the QFF points for Red Energy? My partner called today and was advised the points will be received only once the first bill is paid.

I received 10,000 points from Red Energy exactly 10 days from electricity transitioning.
Haven't received 5,000 points yet for Gas as that is still with my old provider however expected to be moved in two weeks.

I didn't switch my electricity but I did change my gas to Red as it was cheaper.
I got my bonus 5,000 points after receiving the last bill from my old provider.

Received them soon after I swithced and still haven't received the first (and also the last) bill. No points received from EA yet. Will post back once received. Then will switch back to Red once I receive the ones from EA (will use the Mrs name next time)

Generally when your old provider issues your final bill, or shortly after.

I don't mean the bonus points but rather the points for using gas/electricity every month.
I remember from the deal that you get 2 or 7 points for every dollar spent, depending on what plan you're on.

Oh right, unable to assist with the answer at this stage as still awaiting my first bill and awaiting points for usage :)

One of my mates swapped to Red. He got an entertainment booklet of discounts for various activities-I now have a coupon for Aust Turf Club:). Think most of the coupon are city centric
