Am now just days off that magical 1000 flight. In the last few days suffered an amazing cluster of delayed/missed/cancelled flights. But I am firmly in Chile now and nothing will stop me.

Maybe I shouldn't have said that???

My 1000th flight became 1000 and 1001. After 3 hr delay in departure at SCL we had medical emergency diversion to AKL. Just got into SYD as the bar closed at the Rydges where QF put me up due to my missed connect to BNE.

Actually a very fitting 1000th I will learn, one day, to treasure that flight. But not yet.

I'm jealous you actually remembered and did something about it! I was telling my kids about the two milestones i was heading into 2,000 flights and 3 million miles. They we excited and wanted to plan something, my youngest as even going to bake a "plane cake". But alas, hit a horrid work period that even my bum was taking the shape of a business class seat!

Kids were not impressed when i told them later they were done. Even worse i could not even remember which ones they were! But for the record i just went back and had a look and i did them both in a 6 week period, TPE > LAX was the 3 millionth mile somewhere over the Pacific and the 2,000th was BKK to IST and from memory a flight to forget.

It was only because of discovering AFF (and through it flighttracker or whatever it's called) that I was driven to research old flights and now use it constantly - otherwise would have had no idea

I actually hope never to make 2000 flights - I know how hard my first 1000 have been - I am in awe of you!!
