10 SCs short of Silver

I am 10 SCs short of Silver which would be helpful for the additional luggage allowance for a flight next year!

They will expire in the next fortnight (unless I may be entitled to an extension thanks to Points Club membership; I'm not 100% on this?).

Are there any options such as the previous BP deal that might help me get another 10 SCs?

Have you done green tier yet?

Is booking one flight somewhere on Qantas (or Jetstar with a Plus Bundle) an option?

Just to elaborate further on what he is talking about. Qantas introduced a new program this year called Green tier which you earn by doing a couple of environmentally friendly activities. Once you reach that tier you get a bonus of 50 status credits or some nominal amount of Qantas points. These activities aren't too hard although it will involve spending some money. As MattG pointed out a flight anywhere on a JQ Plus bundle or any QF cash fare will do the trick right about now. And it can be something really dumb like Sydney to Melbourne returning on the flight coming back.

Thanks - this seems achiveable but it does mention it could take 3 weeks to get the SCs which would be a bit risky. --> Best ways to quickly unlock Qantas Green tier

I assume the flight needs to actually be taken - I can't just book and not turn up; not that I'd like to delay the flight doing this anyway? I'm in Perth so there likely aren't too many cheap flights that are cheaper than the value I'd get out of Silver, I would think.

And you'll still need to spend something to unlock those activities to earn Green tier. It might make sense to book a JetStar Plus fare anywhere to earn those 10 status credits. What's your home airport?

Hold on a sec, you are a Points Club member? Well the answer here is very simple. Book a Qantas classic award ticket to Broome or Adelaide this month! Simple. Might cost you like $40 in taxes and fees but should earn you the status credits you need.

Yes. Book a return flight, ideally one where you get to say Broome get off the plane, hang out in the airport for 30 minutes then board the plane back to Perth! This could be done on a weekend trip no problemo. I hear some AFFers make this their hobby! 🤣

Quick - do you own a high vis jacket? I see some classic award availability from Perth to Port Hedland this month:

A few other destinations which appear to have classic award availability this month in WA: Newman, Paraburdoo and Karratha.

In case you're wondering this is the status credit accrual on a classic award as a Points Club member:

Perth to Kalgoorlie on the 28th have classic award availability one way

I see that one could do a same day turn on Newman on the 29th, perhaps other days:

If all goes well you'll be a couple minutes late to work (blame it on spilling Newman's Own on your clothes!).

Are you doing a return search using Qantas points with departure date of September 29 and return date of September 29? You should see that 5 AM flight available as Economy Classic award along with the 7:55 AM return flight showing as an Economy Classic award (you may need to scroll down to see the return flight options). That's what I'm seeing at least!

"All available flights have a connection time that is too short. Please change your date or update your selected flight."

I see them but get that message. I guess they could be booked as separate flights and I'd need to hope the flight isn't delayed.

I can't comment on flights to regional WA, but if I were to hazard a guess and please those on AFF correct me if I'm mistaken here, the first aircraft that goes from Perth to Newman will be the same aircraft that goes from Newman back to Perth? I can't think that Qantas just has 737s laying around in Newman just in case a plane catches a delay but perhaps I'm mistaken here. The other alternative is to fly out on a Friday to one of these regional WA spots then head back on Saturday or Sunday (perhaps after enjoying a short break there). Certainly would be a bit more costly in the sense that you'd have to worry about hotels, but could be more enjoyable than spending quality time on a 737.
