Finally approved this morning! Just wondering, if i request a convenience chq, is it the same as if i just did a balance transfer in terms of fees? Is there any other associated fees or will it just be like i do a balance transfer with the same 6 month interest free?

Fri 29/11 - Rang to ask about moving from Plat to Signature

Mon 2/12 - Rang to confirm what was happening - Was approved already

Wed 4/12 - Still nothing in the mail... but Citi seems to take ages for anything to post to me![/QUOTE]

Fri 6/12 - Card in mail - Letter says $0 Annual fee - Same credit limit though :(

Called Citibank today and asked to transfer my existing Signature card to fee free for life offer.
I was told it was only for new accounts and they couldnt do a transfer unfortunately.
I told them it was crazy that they are forcing me to close my existing account and re-apply for the same exact account - waste of time etc, but definately worth it as the current fee is $395 pa.
Once that was said they 'escalated' my case to a supervisor, who agreed it was a waste of time and that the new approval would be subject to credit checks with the possibility of a lower credit limit.
Told them I didn't care so they put in a 'special request' to have my exisitng card converted and to save me the trouble of re-applying.
I was told that I will know the outcome of the request within 3 days, so fingers crossed and will keep you posted.

Received card :)
Rang and got english help fast :)
Can change to my own PIN :)
Received and activated Priority pass :)
Form says $0 fee per year...that enough?

I already have a Signature card so when I called about the offer and asked about transferring me to the $0 package, they said it wasn't possible.

Instead the CSR suggested I reapply whilst crediting the $195 annual fee that I had already paid. I went onto reapply on the phone and said that Citi should have all my details already but they insisted they needed new ID, payslips and my tax return.

Sooo when I've finally submitted all my details, they get back to me and said they could just transfer me over with all previous details remaining the same :-|

Aside from that and having a declined mark against my history, I'm not complaining too much about the $0 annual fee :)

Just an extra (and unnecessary) "enquiry".

I was called on Saturday afternoon telling me that they'll approve the Signature upgrade with the same credit limit as my Platinum card, and the fee-free-for-life thing will remain. They will send me a new credit card, and disable my Platinum card in ten business days.

An update. After having to call up again and request $0 upgrade from Platinum to Signature they advised it didn't go through last time because my credit limit was below Signature minimum (13.5k) funny that the other guy didn't mention that.

Got my limit bumped to 15k immediately (was approved for 20k), said they would need to look at my file asked me some questions about my income which was all verbally accepted over the phone and would get back to me in 10 days with an outcome.

Great news is they called early today and said yep you have been approved and card is on the way. Persistence pays off!

Got my Signature card in the mail with the attached schedule - $395 annual fee. Called up and the CSR confirmed the fee was $395, however she placed me on hold then confirmed she had "fixed" it. Got her name and employee number just in case I get charged.

As a "valued customer" I was offered the 0% balance transfer. I haven't spent anything yet and they haven't made any money off me, but I'm still valued.

After 15 minutes or so sorting it all out I thanked her for the assistance, to which the reply was "No problem, you deserve a service like this". Could be construed either way based on the posts I read on here about their customer service.

Has anyone received a WRITTEN confirmation of the Free-for-Life Citi Signature card ?

Lots of reassurances etc.... and promises of written confirmation but I am yet to see anything in writing.

(for 2 cards in my household)

Yes got a email from CB last Monday confirming fee free for life

yes, the info sheet that came with the card explicitly says $0.

OK, then I will keep pestering them for the same confirmation then.

We downgraded 2x Select Cards to this fee-free Signature and those cards arrive on a piece of paper stating $395 p.a. despite the verbal confirmation

But they did not charge any fee on activation either.

Update - Citibank rang me this morning and I was told all fixed - my current credit card has been 'upgraded' to fee free for life status.
Very happy with that and thanks again to AFFers for great advice!!

Congrats!

Saw my post earlier ?

I'd advise to keep pressing them for a written confirmation if possible.

Promised one here but still waiting .....

With Citibank (banks in general) , one can never be too trusting. After all, they all demand paper verification of our IDs etc ...

Well let's hope they don't go back on their word because I have no hesitation in closing the account

Progress report:

Filled out application on line 19/11 and asked my 'paymaster' to arrange up to date docs proving income
Faxed said docs to Citi on 25/11

Sat back and waited for approval as I'm fully compliant
Made numerous phone calls checking progress - seemed to be going backwards then sideways and then forward
For whatever reason Citi asked me to email the same docs from screen shots on 02/12

Quite a few more phone calls, incl >1 hour on 09 Dec to explain what they should have been able to read all by themselves on docs proving income
Still awaiting to hear

This is the most tortuous approval ever from jokers who don't seem to understand anything and specialise in illogical phone conversations
