$0 Annual Fee for Life on Citi Platinum/Signature CC Complimentary Insurance

Approved 7 days after I applied with three phone calls in the meantime to verify/clarify things for them.

Today received a mailing from Citibank with a glossy brochure letting me know all about my new card and benefits, effectively restating what's already on the website. Interestingly no card, that's apparently on its way seperately.

I used to have a Citi Platinum for a few years before I cancelled it about 2-3 years ago. Last week I applied for the Signature, and within 18 hours I had an email asking for some information. Emailed the information and within 24 hours had an email that my application had been approved. The card arrived in the mail in about 5 business days.

Looking forward to receiving the card. If Citibank want to effectively buy customers to market their other products to by offering complimentary international travel insurance and the other perks of the cards for free, I'll take it.

Decided to apply by phone. First she offered to cancel my CitiBusiness and give me the Signature; I declined.

Then she offered to change my CitiBusiness to fee free so I accepted. Immediately got a call back to say she had made a mistake and couldn't do that and was I sure I didn't want to cancel the CitiBusiness card. Yes I am sure.

Subsequently received a call the following day asking if I was sure that I didn't want to close the CitiBusiness as I could have the Signature straight away whereas if I kept it I would have to start a new application for the Signature. Yes I am sure and have already put in a separate application. OK, someone else will ring you to discuss. Waiting......

Sounds like Citi...

Applied for new Signature card and it's declined.
Reason declined: Applied for credit limit increase on my existing CitiBusiness card 3 months ago
Requested for re-assessment and it's declined
Reason declined: Same as above

Requested for $0 annual fee for life on my existing CBG and it's declined

Requested for upgrade to Signature from CBG and it's declined. Requested to speak with Supervisor and she will try to request for an upgrade, once approved, will ask for the $0 annual fee for life on the approved signature. Both are not guaranteed, she will call me back in 5-7 working days to advise.

Not very happy at the moment...

1.25 QFF / dollar spent on CBG is fantastic, but the required points to redeem flights are not competitive compared with others

I just called to ask to have my $199pa signature card changed to no fee for life (received an upgrade from the platinum rewards earlier this year, hence the current annual fee).

Was told no problem at all, did it for me whilst on hold :)

Just emailed my ID and 2 recent payslips (applied over the phone as a new customer for Platinum). Hoping I am approved as this is a pretty great offer.

After receiving conditional approval for my wife's application on the 24th, have:
1. Sent rates notice, passport details and tax return assessment summary for 12 & 13 on 25/11;
2. Had info lodged confirmed over the phone with wife on 26/11;
3. Had income levels confirmed with accountant on 26/11;
4. Following further call to wife, sent complete 2012 & 2013 tax returns on 27/11;
5. Received email and provided company ABN on 28/11.
Still waiting on decision despite wife exceeding income levels and with only one card and $13k limit.
All rather bemusing over a Signature card that will just be a future Plan B to my Select. No worse though than a recent Westpac application, this time in my name that was finally approved on the third attempt.
Crazy neither bank wanted details of company financials just showing how inept the banks are dealing with the self employed.

I'm still rooting around with Citi as I am refusing to provide income and ID information citing 9 months of having a Clear Platinum with them and that absolutely nothing other than my address has changed since I made that application and that they can refer to that and the credit check they just did. I've asked for this to be escalated if necessary and I'll see where that goes. The girl I spoke to wasn't impressed though.

Lovely shiny new card to add to my wallet!

Does anyone know if (having chosen the non-balance transfer option) you get the bonus reward points per spend?

"Double the rewards points with 3 points per $1 spent on all eligible purchases in Australia for 6 months (if Citibank Rewards Program is chosen)"

That doesn't apply with the $0 for life offer only the half priced first year offer.

Currently have a platinum card with annual fee
Been with Citibank for about 7 years
Usually have the card pretty maxed out and pay most off each month/two $20k limit
Rang and asked about the offer, and was transferred to customer service. Was given the option of applying for the Signature in addition to the Platinum, but didn't see the need, plus wanted to reduce the need for additional ID checks etc as I can't be bothered
Confirmed that I could apply for the fee free for life offer on my current Plat card and/or apply for the Signature card. Confirmed that I could get 6 months at 1.99% as a balance transfer and that any existing balance on the old card would transfer
Just confirmed my name/address etc and sent off the request for the Singature card for approval and will know in 3-5 working days

Will update the thread with the outcome, but was hoping it would automatically be approved :(

Sweet, will give this a crack tomorrow.

Let us know how it goes

Fail to see the need to send a request off for "approval" give that I want the same credit limit and I would be no higher of a risk with a new card

Oh well that's Citibank! :)
