My award seat booking is Melbourne-Singapore-Doha-Frankfurt. My request cannot be done on line hence I need to call……

Day 1 : “could I change Doha to Frankfurt to an earlier flight please?”

“Oh we have to request Qatar Airways to unlink Singapore-Doha-Frankfurt, please call back after 24 hours otherwise I will call you back when it is done”

Day 2 : “Hi I am calling back”

“Oh it is still not un linked, I will make another request and keep my eye on it for you and call you”

Day 3: “Hi I am waiting to change a flight”

“Mmm…let me call the department who made the request to unlink the booking, please wait”

45 minutes later..

“Hi I am still on hold trying to speak to the department, please wait”

This is Qantas on hold to their own call centre!

1hour 15 mins later on hold I give up.

Day 4: “ Hi I have been trying for 4 days to change a flight”

“Oh yes I can see that you have called before. No need to unlink the sectors I will just re-book them”

The parts of story that I have left out are the endless hours on hold, calls being disconnected, no call backs despite being advised to the contrary and automated call back not working.

And yes I finally got my earlier flight to Frankfurt!
