AFF Review: Qantas A380 First Class (SYD-JNB)

A couple of years ago, a QF flight from SYD to DFW we were on ran out of meals in J! Two work mates down the back had a choice of tuna mornay or they could make something up for them. WTF, we're in J they politely enquired? Turned out well in the end. The crew said a couple of pax up the front...

The view or two from my "office"

Today's office, a spot of Christmas shopping this arvo at Capital Brewing for a Brodburger and a pint of XPA. Grabbed a couple of crafties for our son in MEL for Christmas. They'll go with a couple beers from Cypher Brewing and Bentspoke - Canberra theme happening. I like this Christmas tree....

New Adelaide Qantas Club & Business Lounge

Interesting interpretation. Thought the pie was suppose to be sitting up side down on a bed of blue peas? Anyway, did it taste good?

What's your favourite big city destination?

I'm happy anywhere so long as it's not in front of my dual monitor work screens! A walk along Mission Beach QLD, a beer at the Jovial Judge Whangarei, fish and chips in Batemans Bay, wondering around Chiang Mai, anywhere really.

Airport security confiscated an empty water bottle

In NAN, on the way home to CBR, Fiji Air staff did a pre-flight bag check after we scanned our boarding passes and just before boarding. They took my full 250 ml standard airline water bottle that I filled in the lounge! We did have a chuckle to ourselves.

The view or two from my "office"

Saturday afternoon for the Nut's, the PM's XI at Manuka Oval. Not a big crowd but turned out to be a pleasant afternoon, if a little breezy at the cricket followed by dinner at the Kingston Hotel.

    QF Platinum Recognition on flights

On greetings, when I was a WP Mrs Nut and I were boarding a domestic flight, think it was CBR. Mrs Nut was in front, flashed up her boarding pass and got the usual disinterested row something, on the left, whatevs. I flashed up mine and the hostie came alive "Welcome back Mr Nut, great to have...

Is the "International Departure Lounge" at CBR any good?

We flew CBR-NAN earlier this year when I was SG. So, couple of things: we had acres to the J lounge as we flew on a Sunday, sweet! The CBR international departure lounge is fine. The bar's ok, over priced as usual though Mrs Nut said the Chardy wasn't that good. Is there any special treatment...

Have you been on a flight that diverted?

Back in the late 90's was flying from Mt Isa to Townsville on an F28 when the pilot made an announcement that I didn't quite hear as I was down the back near the engines. The hostile came around about 5 mins later and asked if I was going to Townsville or Cairns. I said Townsville, she said...

    Qantas domestic economy meals

Very much so. A pizza slice sounds good at 35,000 feet but did they test how it would look (and taste) after leaving the catering line, sitting in a warmer for a couple of hours before being served?

The view or two from my "office"

The amazing spring weather rolls on in Canberra. Hall Markets this morning, good spot for Christmas ideas, coffee and a sausage and onion sandwich for breakfast. Got a flat "no, don't even ask" from Mrs Nut. ...there are more stalls than this....

The view or two from my "office"

Downtown Yass, was busier than it looks...well kinda... Then a quick stop at McKellar Ridge Estate for a spot of wine tasting on the way home. Nice range of reds and whites. It's not one of the more commercial vineyards, they only produce less than 15,000 cases a year and the owners do the...

Glorious day in Canberra today. Did a run to Yass for a mooch around then lunch at the Yass Golf Club. Had the veal schnitzel, awesome.
