    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

OUCH! Sapporo was generally always reasonably priced, even with snow festival season.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

It was like someone put twice as much syrup in as you’d normally expect. I prefer my margaritas a little more fresh, less sugar.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Currently on QF19 SYD-MNL 18/3/25 Grabbed the apertivo which had some great nuts and the margarita was decent but too sweet for my taste. Mixed in a little water and it made for a more palatable drink. Went with the soup for starters and gotta say, that was damn good. Nice and flavorful...

Tips for transiting at Manila NAIA T3 to T1

Yeah I arrive 1730 and fly out 2330, so probably peak time to try to get to the other terminal.

Tips for transiting at Manila NAIA T3 to T1

Yeah I did the declaration last night and grabbed the Grab app and it's on the phone already. Only thing I intend on doing at T1 is trying Jollibee to see what all the fuss is about, then I'm gonna go chill in the Sakura lounge as I'm on JAL outbound.

Tips for transiting at Manila NAIA T3 to T1

Yeah I’m not going through all that. Grab seems like the go as I can just use my card. I’m just there for the layover and I’ve got the business lounge to chill in so I don’t need any cash.

Tips for transiting at Manila NAIA T3 to T1

Off to Japan on Tuesday and travelling SYD-MNL-HND and I've gotta get from T3 to T1. I've got 6 hours between arrival and departure and I've heard they're incredibly slow and inefficient at NAIA. Seems most people recommend using Grab to go to the other terminal as it's a 20 minute ride away...

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

My flight is arriving at sparrows fart. I'm staying my first night in Kawasaki because it's nearby and has some great stuff to check out. I have a week by myself before the missus arrives and staying in different places almost every night to explore and save some cash. Night in Kawasaki was...

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

Plenty of things to see in the area, Miraikan, the future museum. Lots of interactive exhibits and the robots that are cool Legoland discovery Statue of liberty Parks Gundam statue Depends on what you're into and such. It's a great place to spend an afternoon and its proximity to the other...

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

Planets is the one I'd recommend. It's more immersive, a bit smaller and has things like the water rooms and such which are super cool. Plus Odaiba is a great place to spend an afternoon wandering.

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

I mean, depends on where you're going and what you want to see. Anywhere near Shinjuku/Shibuya/Ueno/Asakusa is gonna be one the pricier side. If you're flying in to Haneda, thanks to Japans phenomenal public transport, Kawasaki is a good choice as it's not too far from the airport and it's...

The changing demographics of business class

Consider people my age, late 30s. We're unable to enter the property market if we haven't already unless we have help from the bank of mum and dad, or being born into relative privilege. We work incredibly hard and get limited time off. So those who have some disposable income now are spending...

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

I don't travel enough to get those kinds of points and I'm fine with just a bed to crash in so business hotels have been fine for my needs. It is completely crazy just how much the prices went up over the year though, even in areas as far out as Saitama.

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

The timing also has something to do with it, but I checked around all over Tokyo and other areas and there's a distinct uptick in prices regardless of date. We travel to Japan with some frequency so we've got places we can go, but the golden route cities are going to continue going up and up...

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

I mean, if you're going to visit Osaka for the expo, you're going to have to stay in the area unless you want to spend a chunk of time travelling each day. Kobe is ok for staying but due to its proximity is still on the pricier side. I'd recommend getting the expo stuff out of the way then...

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

I was expecting some increases last year vs when we went in 2019, but the 12 month increase is a whole new level. My friends who live there and need to travel for work are finding it harder and harder because they earn in ¥ but the hotels are priced for international tourism.

    Hotel prices in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto exploding

I know, right? That's why I'm grateful we spend so much time outside of Tokyo and the metro areas. A nice hotel in Kumamoto for 2 nights was about ¥14000 a night. Nagasaki, even less at ¥10000. We got 2 nights in a nice ryokan in Kurokawa Onsen town for $600 a night for two people with the full...

Unfortunately not, it's across all the metro areas and has been going up for the last 12 months.
