    What cheeses me off

I guess that emphasises an interesting thing: in some countries or places where coffee is predominant and a source for the countries that have crafted a particular "culture" from coffee, the preparations of coffee can be quite simple and perhaps not that pleasant. I remember going for an...

    What cheeses me off

LOL well we all have vices :) honestly depends on how deep down the rabbit hole you want to go. For example, my mum does like her cappuccinos, but she'll easily get by with instant powdered coffee. I know it's hard (and even expensive) to get the same Australian coffees all over the world, so...

WCMO is IT ID 10Ts not doing their testing sufficiently before deployment. BNE is running a competition with Malaysia Airlines. Pretty simple - fill in a form and you go into the draw. Use a referral link to get someone else to enter, and you score a bonus entry. So, given Mum found the...

    What cheeses me off

Like the classic joke: "A coffee without milk please." "I'm sorry, we ran out of milk, but I can make you a coffee without cream." Don't know where you are in Europe, but most Europeans aren't aware of the range of coffees that we have, and most likely wouldn't make or offer them. Depending on...

20 minute connection times in Japan - impressive

A totally domestic itinerary... but if there are delays, connection is cooked. Yes, this is Japan, so delays will be rare (and not taken well by both nationals and foreigners alike), and yes it is protected. Reminds me of old days QF regional connections, e.g. at ports like MKY, CFS etc...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Nope - I've heard of all sorts of things stuffed into a chicken, but not beer. Anyone ever had one of these before? (Not the Qantas dish, beer roast chicken) How does it taste?

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I'd probably ask the FA if it's possible I can get two starters: first preference is the dumplings, but I also would like the salad. Naturally, I'd accept if the FA said it wasn't possible (e.g. they only want to serve one each, or there aren't enough to go around to fulfil). As for the main...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Yep, as shown on a previous post, it's a cursory inclusion and not a dedicated plate. That said, we all know NZ has a great dairy industry, so I'd be concerned about having to make cheese from canaries.... :)

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

The purple lighting always makes it difficult to take a decent photo, viz. throws off the colour balance altogether. Can't quite tell what the rice is, and the chicken doesn't look like the greatest cuts, but if the taste is good (and the chicken isn't dry) then I'm happy to forgive.

50000 Bonus Aeroplan points with new HSBC Star Alliance Card

Holy dooley - when I applied for this card with a similar promo a couple of years back, it was 50,000 points with the base $4000 spend (along with instant Star Alliance Gold). Now they want the (admittedly reduced) threshold of $48,000 to net the full amount.

WCMO is The Star Club can't and/or won't tell you how many Casino Dollars and Tier Points you will earn for a particular activity. (Not have earned, obviously you can find out after you do the act, but not before) It's like dynamic pricing but in reverse. At least with airline or hotel dynamic...

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Not really travel as such.... ....went onto Qantas Wines last night to purchase some wine: many gifts, bonus points and work towards PC requalification all in one. I knew I had a PC voucher to use, too. Did all the research, checked wine trackers, weighed up options.... finally put together a...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

So what did you accept or turn down in place of a "hot dinner"? Was it tasty? We've talked about this many times, but I still am amazed how that could happen. Surely planes haven't been that slow to allow that, but I also doubt that one (let alone two) FAs could take care of all of that on such...

    Qantas domestic economy meals

Obviously not enough dip. :) Ironically, crudites and a drink is a fairly traditional accompaniment. Of course, the whole idea was to enjoy fresh vegetables with an aperitif; those carrots are far, far, far from the garden they were grown in...

Virgin and Qantas to ban power bank use

Well in my case I slept and later snored. Not sure how annoying that snoring was, if there was any, but considering I hadn't been told, doused in all sorts of liquids in retaliation or smothered with a pillow or blanket, it mustn't have been unsually annoying to any given passenger or crew. My...
