I guess same could be said about the weight, over 7kg and it's $55 excess weight charge provided it's under 14kg it can still be brought in the cabin once the fee is paid. If they did move to a size based, the fee could instead be switched to an oversized carry on or 2nd piece charge.

List the bloody gate more than 2 seconds before boarding and then people will naturally gravitate towards their gate rather than rushing around the main area at the last second because the gate has just appeared.

I see it being potentially worse, many low cost carriers in Europe have those bag sizer things at the gate and if it doesn't fit then you pay. Those weighing bags at the gate would just switch to making sure bags fit in a size instead. There are a lot of wheeled carry on bags that I've seen...

See I disagree. I like the QF coffee (also operational all day) and self service juice more in the morning then QF also has champagne which is a nice bonus with food between the two on par.

MH uses the Plaza Premium, BA the House and Qatar the Air New Zealand lounge. AA, FJ, CX and JL still use the QF lounge. Open hours are 5am till 10pm daily.

Visited the SQ Brisbane lounge this afternoon prior to an Air New Zealand flight. Woeful would be the best description. First up it was moderately busy so sat on one of the side couch seats which had a lot of stains on the seat. Food was mostly veg except a chicken dish and basically all noodles...
