Later in the year I'd booked the JQ SIN-DPS specifically on the basis that I'd get QF lounge access. Good thing I'd booked it as a max fare so I'm tempted to cancel, book a better time (or even the KLM flight) and then use the voucher on other JQ flights.

Could get the work experience kid to build a database heck even an internal website that has just JQ PNR and booking date. Scan boarding pass to enter PNR and it very quickly returns booking date. No other identifying information (names/flights etc) would even be needed in such system. Easter...

I think the much fairer approach here would to have said anything booked from 1 July 2026. Let people show their JQ ticket date and then wouldn’t have any of this situation.

Rather average when JQ is the only option. I’ve got one JQ booked on the basis that I could use the QF lounge. Would have been much better to say make the change with a years notice not just ~3.5 months but such is life.

On VA can also pay $60 which is arguably better value than the 7500 points they charge.

I had QR Y flights booked using VA points in December and noticed SQ had the day same dates available into CDG instead of GVA. Whilst probably a bit extreme I've decided to cancel the QR and have rebooked on SQ.

Wouldn't surprise me if this is the mechanism they use to make it free for Gold. They have to block for everyone else but in the system it makes the seat free.

I agree, don't like to pay upfront either but the booking is in under a month (hence I'd prefer it to be solved quickly) and happy to pay. It's a cheap enough hotel anyway and the $50 voucher was the sweetener.
