I just re-qualified for Gold (sad to see the 800-odd SCs disappear) and I looked at my summary online and it had the line that said how many I needed to attain platinum - but nothing about how many required to retain Gold? I don't recall seeing this last year?

Oh I did open a citi account... but the card never arrived. I contacted them a week before I was due to go away, two weeks after opening the account... and they said there was some kind of problem and the card was never issued. They would send it, but couldn't guarantee it would arrive in time.

I didn't trust QC to actually be able get money in place on time... so I just loaded it onto my ANZ visa debit card (that I never use) and got cash withdrawals... yes, I got thwacked by fees, but at least I transferred from one account to the other and it was there immediately.

We did A380 J last year and loved it, really didn't like the 777 EK. I do think the CX product is probably more comfortable. But the bar is a total god-send for a 14 hour flight, just to be able to get up and sit down in a more social space.

When we checked in on 19 July, we were told it wouldn't be open until 'late August'... and yes, the Koru Lounge is really... really unimpressive. Would it have killed them to have a bathroom inside the lounge?

Your nationality isn't on the boarding passes, so don't worry about that. Just as long as the name matches the passport. As for the class, we did standard and standard premier... it is worth the extra money for the space, relative quietness and food service of SP ... but frankly, Eurostar, no...
