    Abbreviations and explanations

This abbreviations list is great. Having AFF, the web and travelling conversations combined is like learning a whole new language and having the translations close at hand is helpful.

    G'Day from Dubai!

Living in the Middle East and soaking up that culture sounds like a great adventure and such good opportunities to get a good look at everything. I'd love to pop into Petra and check out the special city.

F.A.A. Approves iPads in coughpits, but Not for Passengers

I like the idea of hosties having electronic devices instead of paper to help look after everybody. Of course, electrical interference aside and I'm sure the stafff would need to follow safety rules, it seems that if electronic devices can improve business efficiencies and cut down on manual...

Malaysia Airlines to join Oneworld alliance

Must say I have enjoyed flying MH and using their lounge in the long haul flights was very welcome. The staff were so friendly and helpful. A nice smile makes all the difference in a flight.

Hi Cruisejet, Do you reside in Dubai permanately or you there until you move on to another country? I'm curious because I recently met a couple who spent 5 years in Dubai and loved their time there.

    G'Day From WA

Hi Mika, I'm curious - does your trip end in Moresby or do you go on to the interior of PNG? I travelled through PNG once and have some great (and sometimes scary) memories.

    Hi all out there

Hi there jslunn70 from Townsville. I lived in Townsville for 10 years. There used to be some great travel opps from there. I wanted to go to Guam but left before I did it. I sent someone to Guam though when I was TA and he came back with marvellous stories and photos for me.

As a traveller, what does breakfast mean for you?

Virgin does cups of hot chicken soup. I don't drink it any other place, but it just comforting when in the middle of the flight or waking up from the red eye sleep.

    Another Hello from WA

Ah Straitman...if only it was that simple but its like being in the wilds of Africa....All the teams are pretty fantastic with how they run like Leopards when they have ball and leap gracefully in the air high like Gazelles when they want it. Then they do the small group hug in the middle of...

    The Best Part of Flying

For long haul flights, it's that shower and short sleep in the transfer airport that is the difference between getting home sanely or with rumpled hair and gritty eyes.

first time applying for credit card

I have been through a few credit cards over the years and never been asked for an employment letter. Usually, a phone call to the boss would suffice. In most cases, I didn't need to provide anything for them to decide whether the lender wanted to take me on or not. Here's a heads up though -...

As a traveller, what does breakfast mean for you?

3 options Rice Bubbles with milk and cream 2 pieces of vegemite toast 2 boiled eggs The best ever and unforgetable breakfast was in Krabi Thailand - a sort of coleslaw with pineapple and served in half a pineapple husk. Eggs Benedict are up there for any time of the day but I've only really...

    The Best Part of Flying

My very favourite part of flying is when we are high above the clouds and you can see the sun shining on them. The best part is as the sun is coming up or going down. It feels like I can just step out on the clouds and walk across them. Of course, this is a bit difficult with the doors sealed...

Is it just me or is this stuff crazy...?

Hmmmm Best not watch that video in the rain when I'm about to fly out. Reminds me of being in a cyclone in Townsville in the wet season. Driving in the car was hard enough but at lease the car couldn't plunge to the ground when it was up in the air.

Where I would go if I didn't have young kids

Great question. I like it. Children soak up so much information quickly and the more positive exposure they get to other cultures, the more interesting they become as they grow up. Safety will always be an issue of course but if we have the opportunity to take them safely overseas and into...
