Gold status achieved, but for how long? QFF inconsistencies!

So I've attained Gold in March this year, after being "Lifetime Bronze". My membership year is 1st June - 31st May. In the Qantas app, it says "Congratulations!" Gold status attained > view Gold benefits > Gold Valid until 31 May 2025. This is good! Then I go onto the QFF website, into my...

When does my new card arrive?!

Having been "Lifetime Bronze" since 1994, I suddenly find myself at Gold, due to a flurry of post-retirement OS travel in J in the past membership year! So my question is how soon after graduation do they send out the new card? Reason for asking is I use my card for OS money, and if they issue...

    Transiting Doha

I have a Sydney - Doha - Milan itinerary. Is two hours enough time to transit Doha from arrival to departure? Thanks!

Qatar Business 'R' Class QFF Earn

Flying return to Europe (via Doha) in Qatar Business in their 'R' fare (discounted business) bucket. I've searched around but can't find a definitive QFF points/status earn (if any) on this class. I've seen 0%, 25%, 50%... Does anyone have any actual up-to-date info on this class earn?

Retaining Partner Gold - is it possible?

A question I've not found a clear answer to: If a well-travelled QFF bestows Partner Gold, can said partner then retain the Gold status 'indefinitely' by attaining the annual 600 SC necessary, or does it vanish after a year and the well-travelled partner have to do it again when reaching 2400 SC?

    Velocity Points Booster

Somewhat hidden program, but I found it and used it today. Planning a Business Rewards return for two to UK, flying EY MEL-AUH-MAN over Christmas NY. Had the points to do the outbound, no problem, but was short for the return journey by ~50k points. The return flight opened up today, and I was...

    QantasPub Baggage Allowance

I'm a QP member, and I'm flying from London to Copenhagen return on BA metal on a BA ticketed flight. This is a stand-alone trip. Do I get any QP baggage concessions for this trip, or does that only apply to QF ticketed/metal flights? I can't make sense of the rules!:confused:

New Qantas FF Cash Card - double the plastic!

I got my new Qantas FF 'Qantas Cash' card in the post today - nice, smart and all. But I'm a QP member - and this doesn't have QP written anywhere on it. So I phoned the Help Desk and confirmed that if you are a QP member, you'll need to take your QP card IN ADDITION to the new smart QFF card to...

Website may be naff, but the helpline staff are lovely!

Just organising a P/PPP Reward seat for the mother-in-law plus rellies, and didn't have enough points to do the lot, so on Saturday I did an AMEX points t/f, which landed in the VFF a/c today. So went to the VFF 'burn my points' section, selected MIL's flight, but that website still showed the...

    Qantas SYD INT Business Lounge

Just wanted to give a shout-out to the staff at the Qantas Sydney International Business Lounge for one of the best preflight lounge visits I've had with Qantas for ages!

2-for-1 is not as quite as straight forward as that

I was organising to fly with Mrsaplmac for a weekend away and get my sectors up, so I saw there were some $79 flight specials SYD-CBR, so I phoned Velocity to arrange this. Having already done a dummy booking at 2 x $79 return, I knew what the total was going to be, before I thought about...

PNR Linking doesn't always, and status conquers all!

One other thing I learnt from my sojourn to Melbourne on the weekend, besides the prevalence of hi-viz fashion ware, is that linking PNRs doesn't always work, and in the end, status trumps everything. The backstory: taking Mrs Aplmac to MEL for our anniversary. She is BIS WP, I'm ComP b y her...

Hi-Vizware in the Lounge - your argument is now invalid.

I've just spent the weekend in MELB as SWMBO's bag carrier. It's more than evident that this summer's lady's fashion has been inspired by Hi-Viz-In-The-Lounge. Every store on Collins St, the new season tops, dresses, cardigans and other stuff worm by our female counterparts made standard hi-viz...

FF Card Trumping - what's your experience?

Here's a scenario: you have serious-status with your favourite airline. Your favourite airline has a partner airline, and you have actual BIS status with them, too, but not-as-serious. You book a rewards flight using points with your favourite airline, who just happens not to be going in that...

SYD-LHR-SYD, VA Economy Rewards flight, on EY: my experiences

This is the start of my VA/EY code-sharing experience. I'm heading to the UK to see family, travelling alone, on a Velocity Rewards Economy ticket, which was executed via the Velocity website to being on EY metal on an EY ticket. I have Virgin FF Platinum and (coincidentally) Etihad Guest Silver...

Can we start an Etihad section on AFF?

...after all, Emirates has their own pigeon-hole in Airline Loyalty Programs. Given that Virgin Australia is in partnership with them, and offloads to them (yes, my Velocity Rewards flight SYD-LHR-SYD got pushed to EY metal), it might be nice for fellow AFFers to share their Etihad experiences...

Op-ups flying VA on EY Metal

Has anyone had experience of getting an op-up when flying a Virgin-ticketed long-haul on EY metal? I'm just curious, as I'll be flying SYD-AUH-LHR return, by myself, in discount Y, as a VA Gold (possibly Platinum by then)?

Different status tier - different rewards flight options?

I'm heading over to the UK in June, economy, for family purposes, so a rewards pay-by-points return flight is the go. Mrs Aplmac (Platinum) looked at flights this afternoon, and found suitable dates with affordable points - she had sufficient to book one way, I (Gold) had sufficient to book the...
