Qantas 747 joy flight out of Canberra

You only go down the stairs at Gate 3 if you are boarding from there. Boarding passes are scanned at the top.

Converting an A380 to a freighter

An A380 can only carry 10t more payload than a 747-400 (150t vs 140t), but weighs 185t more. Consequently, you're burning a lot of extra fuel to move a lot of extra plane around, for only 7% more cargo. Not worth it except in the most specialised cases.

QF Final 747 flights - SYD, BNE & CBR

Nope. I am Gold, but I was not logged in during the booking process so status was not a factor.

QF Final 747 flights - SYD, BNE & CBR

It was for the Canberra flight - I got a J seat. Very very limited numbers - all of upstairs, all of the nose section and part of the main J cabin was blocked from sale. Only 4 J seats left by the time I got in at 12:02.

Qantas direct flight from Lima to Brisbane April 13th.

Yes, as a scheduled stop on the tour. Sorry if my post implied otherwise. The Captain's Choice charters generally make a stop at Easter Island even from South American cities where Qantas has had non-stop RPT flights.

Qantas direct flight from Lima to Brisbane April 13th.

Qantas 747s have flown to Lima before as part of Captains Choice RTW charters. Not sure they've ever flown non-stop from there to Australia. They often stop at Easter Island.

Advice re SYD-EZE flights for Antarctica cruise

Is there a reason why you won't consider Areolineas Argentinas for the flight to Ushuaia? They have a lot more flights on that route than LATAM. Ushuaia isn't that bad. I wouldn't spend a week there but there are plenty of things to fill a day. There are quite a few half day tour options...

Advice re SYD-EZE flights for Antarctica cruise

Yes I have flown to USH for Antarctica. It is probably a little too early to be searching for flights for February 2021. Generally they only become available about 300 days in advance. That explains why you can find more availability for December 2020. 1:35 would not be enough connecting...

    First World Winge

You're examining people's boarding passes closely enough to determine what status they have? In what way does a Gold frequent flyer's conversation differ from Silver and below?

How do you know the priority lane was ignored? On some routes, more than half the passengers are entitled to use it.

    Re-Booking Previously Booked Hotels

I use this strategy with rental cars.

New Perth transit Qantas Club lounge not accepting invitations passes

All of those, plus the Oneworld equivalents, provided they are flying on QF9 or QF10 (with the exception of passengers flying QF10 PER-MEL as a domestic flight). It’s not like excluding the Silver passes is without precedent - they aren’t valid at LAX either.

Unexpected baggage interlining available transiting via Changi ?

It's a service specific to SIN. You don't even need to have the luggage checked all the way through when you check in for the first flight. If they are only tagged for SIN, you can show the transfer desk at SIN the luggage receipt and they will arrange for it to be re-tagged for your final...

New Perth transit Qantas Club lounge not accepting invitations passes

Well... If this is the lounge pass you receive as a Silver frequent flyer then it is only valid for Qantas Clubs and Qantas International Business Lounges. Qantas has branded the new Perth T3 lounge as an "International Transit Lounge" - neither a Qantas Club nor an International Business...

QF proposal for regional flight training centre

I would have thought Tamworth would be a very strong contender. The RAAF move its flight training away from Tamworth in 2019, leaving a hole to be filled. The community understands that aviation brings jobs and are comfortable with a busy aviation training airport being in their midst. There'll...

Toronto collision: passengers insist on taking carryons

The tests are run on the highest density seating configuration that an aircraft is certified for. If an aircraft is flying with a certain seating configuration, the type has passed the test with that configuration or with one of higher density. The 90 second evacuation requirement is under test...

Is lifetime platinum Star Alliance Membership worth 50,000 AUD?

You could buy a lot of lounge access (or food and drinks), additional baggage etc with $50,000. With no domestic Star Alliance airlines in Australia, it's even worse value.

    The Century Club

I can get 4 just from Australia alone - Australia, Tasmania, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island. Also, 3 from Antarctica just from standing in one spot - Argentina, Chile and the UK have overlapping territorial claims, all of which are counted separately.

Unable to disembark as another aircraft boarding

I'm guessing they don't allow simultaneous departures and arrivals at Gate 3. There could be many reasons why your aircraft didn't use another gate. If it was an ATR then it can't use another gate because they are all jet-bridges.

    Sunday J Lounges for everyone

Can you point to where Qantas advertises a "separate lounge" for its platinum frequent flyers? Nonsense.
