Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Va776 CNS-BNE yesterday departing 9:15. Breakfast served. Eggs, sausage, beans and potatoes as above. Alternate option was pancake stack. Orders taken 1AC (us: P+ & P), 2DF, 1DF and then 2AC. Saw quite a few serves of the egg meal come out, but didn’t see what everyone got. I’d already moved...

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

Shower curtain on yesterday’s flight from CNS-BNE. Think rego was VH-IJQ. It was deployed during the flight though the crew advised that only one toilet was serviceable down the back, so they allowed some pax to come through during peak use.

    The Flightradar24 appreciation thread

Oh only just saw these posts. Yes, it was really heavy set in rain this morning up here… very low visibility all round. Not surprised there was a few go-rounds.

Virgin Australia Platinum Plus Status Discussion

In addition to the P+ bag tag and card, I also received this week a Forever Gold bag tag and metal card (gold). Interesting that they sent out both, instead of waiting until any higher status subsided (as QF do, I believe, if you attain LTG while Platinum). Also found it interesting that they...

I'm stepping down from the AFF editor role

Are you encouraging @Mattg into the dark arts and wizardry of yield management @JessicaTam…? 🤣 His pure white soul will be stained with the darkness, (but if we all benefit, does that make it right? 😆)

I'm stepping down from the AFF editor role

Congratulations Matt... I remember meeting a young MattG at SYD when you were wide-eyed and bushy-tailed, fresh-faced out of CBR. I've enjoyed following vicariously along the journey of life you've taken these many years and all the best for your future endeavours.

Philippine Airlines A350-1000s with 10-abreast Economy

It's pretty common to see airline seat dimensions expressed in inches... And pretty common elsewhere, even in Australia... men's short sizes, TV sizes. In CNS, it's still common for people to refer to air con size in BTU (British Thermal Units). I know what size room a 7k or 9k BTU air con...

What’s the most difficulty you’ve had with getting a visa?

Sounds like a line from a Monty Python skit. 🤣

    Article: When Flying Ahead Backfires

'Fly Later' is now a feature offered to Platinum Plus members, so I wonder if you would've been treated differently at the lounge if you were P+. And then also wonder (though highly doubt it) if you were declined because Fly Later is now a feature of P+. (I'm assuming you are not Platinum Plus...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

If you ask for more chocolate, the CSM will gladly bring you more. They have tim tams too. (IME if you ask for more than two refills, they eventually understand that you have a sweet tooth and bring a handful... 😁)

Cruising from Bali to Irian Jaya and down to Cairns

Are you aware of the bar named Gin Social, at the Hilton in Cairns on your eventual arrival? Might be just the place for you to make up any lack you’ve recently experienced 🤣

Virgin Australia Platinum Plus Status Discussion

If you received Platinum+ in the Pilot, you may still have another Platinum to gift: one was given during the Pilot and another was given when it went live in October. I received that pleasant news when I rang to gift my Platinum to a friend.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Geniuely asking for a friend: They are in Singapore (Sentosa) for NYE but are heading to Crown Changi NY Day to overnight there before 8am flight to HND on Friday (2nd Jan). They've been asking me whether using 24 hour bag drop on Thursday when they get to Changi on the Thursday afternoon is an...

    Short Rides from SYD

Oh, according to this article, the short fare system was scrapped. https://www.escape.com.au/escape-travel/is-it-time-to-rethink-the-way-we-queue-for-taxis-at-sydney-airport/news-story/2a9fa26cb364b35d0710818a18c15f1c

    Short Rides from SYD

You shouldn’t ever be concerned about taking a taxi a short distance from SYD - SYD operates (well used to when I worked there) a short-fare system. In conjunction with the taxi operators, taxis that haven’t left a certain geo boundary and return within x minutes are fast tracked to the start of...

Two month trial of Platinum Plus

Did anyone else that received the package read the letter? I received three single entry VA Lounge passes - slightly different than usual (where lounge passes are usually uselessly assigned to my account) in that I can nominate who receives the lounge pass by emailing the Platnium+ email...

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service
