Status run idea to take advantage of the Double Status Credits promotion

If you have 72,000 points and depart from Perth you can do a PER-MEL-SYD-ASP-SYD-MEL-PER (SYD and MEL can be swapped around) JASA and receive 800SC with the double promotion. As mentioned it will cost 72,000 point and around $750 (based on the lowest JASA points fare) and you earn your 800SC and...

No J classics online / JASA costs [temporarily] jumped dramatically

Awesome...A great area to visit. We have a house right inside the medieval centre and go there every August / September. Flying from Singapore on a First Class ASA on the 380 this time round (124,000 points + $300) :D. Lucky I booked it before the current issues;)

No J classics online / JASA costs [temporarily] jumped dramatically

I just looked and my Wife's JASA flight would have cost 63,000 points (NB) while mine (WP) was around 250,000....Not good enough Qantas. I come from a IT background. One would thing you would roll back the changes made as it it obviously affecting the people who fly the most with Qantas, test...

No J classics online / JASA costs [temporarily] jumped dramatically

I'm pretty sure it is one transfer per 12 month period i.e. once you've made a transfer to another account, you can't make any more - not only that same account but any other account. I tried it earlier this year after making a transfer late last year. :(

    Retaining Platinum Without Qualifying

 Oops I think I mis-read the T&Cs and thought I saw a change in lounge access. My mistake

    Retaining Platinum Without Qualifying

I too received my new platinum card a couple of weeks ago (earlier than expected as my anniversary date is August 31st). I did notice in early July that the expiry of my Platinum status was updated to August 2011 even though I had not achived the 1200 points in the year. I have since qualified...

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

Received my 3rd OP-up for the year last week when flying Perth - Darwin. Unfortunately while in the lounge I had to cancel my trip. They couldn't get my bags off so they enjoyed a return trip while I stayed in not so sunny Perth.:( Before this year I've only received one other OP-up. It's my...

Noise cancelling headphones, flight attendants and travelers who are tools...

I flew up to Karratha from Perth last week on a Qantas service (737) and it was the first time I heard the warning about NC headsets to be turned off for take off. I complied with the instruction and then put them on when the Inflight Entertainment started. I was then told to take them off 30...

    Big development! Qantas seat selection!

We are booked on a return Perth - SIN - LDH - CDG flight in August with our points (J on the way out and Y+ on just the LDH - SIN leg on homeward leg). Travelling on Qantas just for the Perth - Sin return leg and BA on the other legs. To select my BA seats, I was able to join BA (free of charge)...

Qantas 2-for-1 International J fares on selected routes 13-17Feb

Damn...I've already used my points to book a Business class fare in August - PER to CDG. I checked the Qantas website and I could have booked similar dates:( I'm thinking of all those points and SC I could have earned, especially as I'm trying to retain Platinum by September. Also those 448K...

Qantaslink baggage allowances for QC members

I would have thought that, as you transfer directly from another QF or QL flight, you get the larger of the 2 bag limits. Therefore you should be able to take 30kg onto the Dash 8. If you were to take just a Dash 8 then you would get a flat 20kg. Doesn't that apply on International flight...

    Travel outside business hours

I travel extensively to mine sites 2 -3 times a month. Most travel involves flying out on the first available flight..5:30am ish and coming back on the last available from the remote site so generally home after 8pm. I get time in lieu while the project gets charged for my hours that I'm in...

    Europcar slow to refund excess

Yes I have mentioned it but whether it helps or not, I don't know. As the car was hired in country France, my limited knowledge of French would preclude me from making a case next time I'm there. Therefore my only avenue is to ask the local arm of Europcar to help me:) I'm not sure if the...

    Jetstar ditches fuel surcharges

I prefer if all charges are rolled into an advertised fare. At the end of the day, if you want to compare a ticket price between several carriers then it doesn't really matter if one charges a fuel tax of $200 and another charges $100 while another charges $50. If you fly based on the total cost...

    Europcar slow to refund excess

I'm running out of Car Hire Companies in Brive. Europcar were 100m from the station and appears to be the only one in town. If I get no satisfaction I'm going to divert my train travel to Bordeaux where I can get a better selection of reputable companies at the train station. It means a longer...

    Europcar slow to refund excess

Hi Just wondering if anyone has had problems with getting an excess refunded by a multinational car hire agency for a vehicle hired overseas. My latest experience is with Europcar in France. We go to France 1 -2 times a year and hire a car for up to 5 weeks at a time. On our last visit we...

Terraces Lounge next to Gate 1 at LHR

    Business Upgrade on 2 sectors

Ahh..one other question about baggage... The limits for Business and Economy are 30Kg and 20Kg respectively + the 15Kg for WP status. These are all weight limitations as opposed to per piece when flying to the USA. Is it okay to spread the weight over, say, 4 pieces of checked luggage as I...
