Seems like if you book after 1st March and your flights is still not operating, flexibility terms may not be on your side, you are gambling with Qantas here.

It looks like most premium seats out of Australia over the next couple of days are gone, except going through China. Even SE Asia is a difficulty, potentially due to rerouting from ME3.

If you were travelling on EK417/413 or QR909 on 28 Feb, it is almost impossible for you to be booked onto another flight and avoid staying in Sydney overnight, regardless your destination is not in the Middle East or not. It is simply because of Sydney curfew, and the conflict broke out just...

May I ask if any passengers on the diverted VA1/QR8400 - 28 Feb managed to get back to Sydney or they are still stranded in Melbourne?

Going through mainland China avoids most of the troubled airspace, and you can avoid the fuss of clearing immigration and re check going through the US. Plus you get better food and even free hotel stay! Of course going thru Canada would be another great option apart from potential snowstorm.

Or the Middle East in general. I would encourage people to change at Africa for Middle East, and change at Mainland China for Europe.
