Oh, your status was even listed down to the *day* of approval +1year, wow. Thanks for this info.

Credit Card Offers HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card: Fast-Track to Star Alliance Gold Status

I've read almost the entire thread and don't think this has been clarified (best answered by non-Aeroplan peeps): For those who didn't do the qualifying spend immediately, did your status period align with the card approval month, or the spend-qualification month? E.g. approved in June...

Unknown catering on MH from 1 Sep onwards (caterer "transition")

SO I've just experienced the catering. There's something more to the whole caterer-contract story, because it doesn't explain why away-ports are getting different catering too (unless, say the KL-caterer contract somehow encompassed a worldwide supplier network). Anyway, the satay was intact...

China Airlines reward seats using Qantas points

I had no problems with the website 3 years ago, but earlier this year only worked through the app. And my middle name didn't change ;)

China Airlines reward seats using Qantas points

I've seen many ambiguous errors in this process, but not "deserialising"!

China Airlines reward seats using Qantas points

See my post paragraph above regarding seat reservation. It's usually not hard to *do*, just hard to log in! 😋. Other AFF members can hopefully advise re your luggage.

Unknown catering on MH from 1 Sep onwards (caterer "transition")

Ah, I'd overlooked that little fact. How strange.

Unknown catering on MH from 1 Sep onwards (caterer "transition")

Interestingly, MH has added more text to their main page about dining, listing routes affected by the cancellation of Chef-on-Call and Special Meals. It's notable that SPML problems are supposedly only going to affect shortish haul flights (not Japan/Aus/Europe). You have to wonder what's going...

Unknown catering on MH from 1 Sep onwards (caterer "transition")

Just saw this on the MH website: https://www.malaysiaairlines.com/content/mh/au/en/mh-media-centre/important-for-you/inflight-food-beverage-services.html Amongst other things: Seems that they ended a catering contract in KL and didn't manage to get a new catering contract in place in time.

    Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

November this year? That's way too short a timeframe for an award seat on SQ via Velocity unless there's a lucky release of some extra seats. Earlier posts in this thread show how hard it can be.

    Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

Does Aeroplan have greater access? Just curious, because some award-seat-search platforms return a fair bit of Aeroplan SQ availability where there's nothing via VA, but I haven't paid attention to the points (knowing that Aeroplan has horrible variable pricing), as I don't have Aeroplan points.

China Airlines reward seats using Qantas points

I'm going to add a few bits which mostly repeat/confirm what others have said in various posts/threads, but hey, all in one place  I made two J redemptions a few days ago, reasonable value TPE-YVR and then YVR-TPE-MEL. It's really hard to avoid the extremely long daytime layover in TPE...

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

And imagine if there were some modifications of tram priority along the way!!

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Once you take into account the cost of each kilometre of tunnel (ballpark $100m/km), completely new infrastructure for its entirety, the immense delays associated with planning, geological testing, site acquisition, community objection, etc, it is immediately clear why a tunnel is pie-in-the-sky...

    Strange travel credit situation

My Explorer anniversary date is next week and I'm planning to cancel (my last attempt to cancel, a few months ago, resulted in an acceptable retention offer, so I doubt I'll get another now). However, i just noticed that I received the $400 annual travel credit about 15 days ago! This seems very...

The incredible cost of hotels in North America...

Weird stuff, eh. Maybe all that revenue-up is in the "resort/destination fee" gouging  (which might end up being outlawed sometime soon if Joe Biden gets his way).

Getting seats to North America and back in points-based comfort and without swearing too much

AND I've now discovered another reason to hate QF... I checked this availability and it sure is there from SYD, but even though there's award availability on the first flight MEL-SYD of the day, giving a legal 3hr transfer, Qantas isn't offering this routing if you search MEL-LAX. FFS.

Getting seats to North America and back in points-based comfort and without swearing too much

That's great feedback thank you. :) If only I could jump on it! August is just a tad too early (self-employed and have to plan absences way in advance).

7 days between landing in CDG and leaving from FRA - suggestions?

Seven days is not a lot, realistically. Given the question, I would assume you've not spent much/any time in that part of Europe. Keep It Simple. Paris is fantastic on so many levels (and you can see suggestions and enthusiasm above), but I meet lots of people who somehow aren't prepared for the...
