    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

I feel like you are trying to push some conspiracy theory. It’s simpler! Largest US base in the ME in Qatar!

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Iran’s relations with its neighbours seems to somewhat complex, it’s hard to see where this now sits with Iran launching missiles into most neighbours. Qatar have said they have not been getting comms from Tehran before any of these attacks which is apparently at odds with prior communications...

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

The issue with Qatar seems to be the al-Udeid Air Base which is probably the biggest US target in the region. Iran has made a few attempts to bomb it today. Will need Qatar to talk Iran out of those ambitions.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Well that works for both parties I guess. The traveller who wants an exit option, and the airline who can now flog the available seat off for two to three times the original prior war price.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

I guess QF doesn’t have any spare capacity to run an extra PER-CDG/LHR flight every day? I was trying to see if they could sub a A330 away from domestic to free up a 787

Indonesia Air Asia returns to DRW

All Asian based LCCs airlines have poor form with Darwin. Tiger Singapore back in the day came and went, AirAsia have come and gone before, Jetstar Asia likewise. DRW is a high cost airport probably not helping.

Accomodation in Melbourne for the rest of this week and into next is super pricey due to F1, certainly feel for those poor people who are stuck. Melbourne also seems to have the most crew stuck with 10 aircraft currently parked. That’s a lot of hotel rooms!

New Jetstar Routes - General Discussion

Appears so. Fairly pointless frequency at 3/week with QF already daily, and the SQ Group 6 daily. MEL-SIN appears to be getting scaled back to 4 weekly also .

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Looks like it’s now returning alongside the other MEL-DOH flight within the vicinity. EY461 is over South Australia still deciding it seems!

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

BNE/MEL/PER-Doha flights only a few hours in, are returning back.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

UAE now closed. Safe to say the whole area will grind to a halt with missiles reported intercepted in Doha, explosions on US base in Bahrain and now missiles have just been intercepted above Abu Dhabi in the past few minutes. Be a few jets parked up down under for a few days it seems.

Virgin Australia Boeing 737 Max 8

At the FY they said debt financing was likely the option with very attractive rates coming out of Japan.

Virgin Australia Boeing 737 Max 8

Interesting they are pulling them at the end of the FY but holding them until the lease expires. I wonder how long that is, explains why they have sort of stretched out the retirement. An operating lease is often 10 years which corresponds which a heavy check, so these three being 2006 builds...

    Qantas HY26 results

As per the presentation seems to be many one-off costs. Engineering, EIS Costs, Wage provisions and some other related costs. International will likely start performing strongly when they get all these International configured XLRs and obviously Sunrise. The International segment is about to...

    Ask The Pilot

JB, which aircraft autopilot handled the crosswind/gusty/high wind approaches better. Airbus or Boeing? And any specific model?

    Qantas' New A321XLR

Not after seeing all these A330 engineering challenges. I’d expect SYD-DPS and transcon flying to move away from the 330 while they try and free up some spare hours. I have suspicions that Joyce didn’t want XLRs with IFE or flat beds, ie the current model is what he planned for international...
