Why not just get one of the big local Emirates Skywards credit cards that come with lounge access and fast-track status? Otherwise, you will likely run into issues trying to use QF for lounge and crediting to EK.

They're not selling status. It's a match. You need top-tier with another airline to be eligible to apply. AFKLM, KQ, VS, DL and other Skyteam airlines all offer StatusMatch.

Somewhat yes, but miles sales to US banks are worth considerably more than other regions. Plus, EK Gold is easy to get with a CC in the USA. More airlines will limit premium inventory to status holders this year.

You (and millions more) are precisely the type of passenger they don't want redeeming for F, IMO. The idea is - protect F seats for members who are active, flying, and contribute $$ to the airline.
