    Qantas does Vegas direct

The risk is small, it’s what 30 flights each way across the period? Some are in peak period like conferences and sporting events, then we have the Australian holiday period in Jan. I’d imagine they will go out somewhat full. It’s probably more a matter could they make more moving this...

    QF Cabin Crew Singapore Base

The cost saving won’t be huge compared to say basing crews in Bangkok etc, but it’s still a saving and someone probably got a bonus for coming up with the idea. There was a TikTok post a little while ago outlining some local salaries in Singapore. Jetstar Asia CC typically made around 2.5-3k...

    QF Cabin Crew Singapore Base

If they intend to play on the Europe to Australia route in house, they need to step up the catering game if they intend to go up against the existing players. I certainly won’t have them on my if that is the standard.

    QF Cabin Crew Singapore Base

Not a problem as such, more just a higher level of consistency when it comes to service levels from Asian based crews. That’s not just a QF issue. Customer service in general across the west can leave a lot to be desired at times. Don’t even get me started on retail.

    QF Cabin Crew Singapore Base

Service will definitely improve, the unions will be jumping up and down however. Over a longer period it wouldn’t surprise me if they start to mirror the JQ model with using offshore crew for international flights. Finnair obviously do it on Asian flights.

    Qantas HY26 results

Interesting I thought they would have been leased. Unless they are leased and lessor looking for new client.

    Qantas A330-200 cabin refurbishments

According to the results today, they are purchasing one A330-300. I assume this is one of the Finnair aircraft.

    Qantas does Vegas direct

Just a tad over 2 months, and 3 per week. Definitely seem like they are testing the waters at the moment.

    High Speed Rail in Australia

Victoria needs many unfunded tens of billions for SRL so this will probably never eventuate. We have seen issues with Melbourne Airport rail, we have also seen issues with that inland rail. I don’t have much confidence on delivery here.

A few days in Cairns 24/2-28/2

I’ve been up this way for the past week Weather has been pretty good until around 2/3pm when the odd storm roll on in (slowly), if not it’s just overcast, but it’s mostly been isolated cells on the tablelands side of the rainforest. It’s been a dry ish Feb compared to prior years. The city is...

Virgin Australia to lease more 737s

A320 VH-VNJ is scheduled to leave Australia tomorrow, Perth-Gold Coast-Apia. I remember this one well as back in the old TT days in 2009 we had our MCY flight delayed from 10am to 12am 🤣 Originally with Tiger Singapore, then to Australia and ended up with Virgin. Interesting to see that its...

    General Virgin Australia Lounge Discussion

Considering the company is making healthy profits, hopefully we might see some capex allocated to lounges in the coming years. I know we will probably never see new locations again, but just the existing fleet will do.

Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

They will need high LFs on these flight so I’d say last minute will be quite competitive vs connections (less revenue flowing to partner also)

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

So which subsidiary is QF using for these WSI flights? Alliance seems unlikely after today’s news. NJS likely won’t have the aircraft unless the are using crews being based at other capitals and fly in and out everyday with no aircraft based at the airport

    Alliance Airlines Discussion

I assume the pushing alternatives line is also to put some heat on QF Management. Most options on the table will somewhat be costly to Alliance, unless they can secure more funding from Qantas, which seems somewhat unlikely. They do seem to have significant amount of debt due in the coming...

    Alliance Airlines Discussion

Share Price down 70% in 6 months, 15% today already. More pain to come if they can’t pull more cash out of Qantas.

    Alliance Airlines Discussion

I can see they have released market updates this morning. It looks like earnings guidance has slipped a further 20% compared to the last guidance in November. They seem very clear in the results, the QF wet lease is unviable and seems to be sinking the whole company. I don’t know what levers...

    Alliance Airlines Discussion

The wet lease appears to go until 2028. I thought it was just covering until all the 220s arrive? So they might not need the wet lease after 2028? Looks like it’s slowly being scaled down as more 220s arrive, probably works if Alliance pilots are all leaving.

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

I wonder if they remain post divider?

Velocity Chief Nick Rohrlach departs in management shakeup

I always found this weird. Is that because they need an executive responsible for the VARA AOC?
