Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

1st aircraft was at this stage in Oct 2025 I think - left the final assembly line in Nov 2025, and still hasn't flown yet. Progress of new (or sub) models always a bit slower. QF has been fairly clear Sunrise service won't commence until 2027 when they have three aircraft.

    2026 F1 Thread

Ferrari flap definity interesting. But must be very close to the limit of 400ms for flap deployment, whereas other systems would be a lot quicker. What happens to the aero as it relatively slowly flips would be interesting.

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

The WSI Airport Master Plan contains space for a future second set of platforms. Just not justified today, particularly when SYD Airport only has one train line and will probably have 10x the number of pax as WSI. The WSI Airport Metro will have capacity for a long time. And the current...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

More just a function of the time when the systems were constructed and the time and cost it would take to convert. When the Sydney system was electrified 100yrs ago (1920s and 30s) DC power was cheaper and more reliable ergo 1500V DC on the trains network. The far more modern under...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

I don't get the focus some have on connecting the two airports. It's simply not justified. Transferring pax are relatively low versus other demand sources and generally have the choice to book from via the same airport. It would be well down the list of locations that WSI wanted to prioritise...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

What would have you preferred. Werrington Kingswood??. St.Marys was already a large 4-platform station almost directly north of the airport. It's also getting a massive upgrade with a new aerial concourse with dual lifts to each platform. And I believe the Blue Mountains express services will...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

As above distance wise MEL- CMB is only a bit further than SYD-ICN so I suspect it fits into that East Coast to NE and SE Asia category. On the partner earnings, they could simplify the tables quite a bit. Eg. HK, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, China and Sri Lanka all have the same SC...

    Jetstar adds Melbourne - Colombo

Somewhat strange.. Note that Flex (or More) categorises as Economy.. the higher earning Economy Max packages were removed a while back. That said GCMap says it's 5443mi which should put it in the 45 SC category. Alternatively if the table for Aus East Coast to Northeast and Southeast Asia is...
