Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

You need to spend $48k in year one for it to renew in year 2, just to clarify. No, only PPS Club get actual stuff now. I was KF Gold for a few years not from this card, and years ago (about 10) I got a physical silver membership card and luggage tag, but never anything from any year of Gold.

Credit Card Offers 50,000 bonus KrisFlyer miles with new HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card

They’re looking to focus on their core operations in Asia/UK. While they’ve dumped a lot of markets, even Canada (which I’d guess is similar to ours), in the US they kept Premier/Private clients. Don’t necessarily think they’ll do that here, but you never know. Seems strange that they launched...

Credit Card Offers HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card: Fast-Track to Star Alliance Gold Status

Aeroplan had/has a Black Friday sale at 100% atm. You can transfer in from Amex US. CBA used to be a route in Aus, albeit that’s dead now and was poor anyway. Pay.com.au is the only option domestically now, I /think/. That said, SQ availability via Kris is a lot better historically, so combined...

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

Agree. Although HSBC is a smaller player here, I like their global presence which seems unmatched. I wonder if they’d do what they’ve done in the US, which seems to be to dump everything except Premier/Private 🤔. Much smaller operation/market here though. I use my US, UK and Expat accounts...

HSBC Premier credit card - too good to be true?

Sort of related (in that it’s HSBC) but I have the Premier CC the chop when the fee came in, using a US HSBC Premier CC instead. The other day, I got an email from SQ and, while not quite as generous as the AC offer a year or so back, it is a decent offer for a card free in the first year...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

AFAIK all UK cards have a minimum age limit of 18 don’t they? I don’t recall ever being able to issue supps to kids, on any card, Amex or otherwise? Australian cards are different in that respect. Though maybe you’ve had options via Premier banking etc. - I had Barclays Premier until a couple...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

Yes, bonus still applies as you’ve not had a UK Amex within the previous whatever months - their bonuses are - any of them if you haven’t had any. Once you’ve had any Amex in the previous 18(I think) months, you’re only eligible for Plat Charge and BAPP (but you remain eligible for both) unless...

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

You apply via GT by putting your “foreign” Amex number down in the application. Amex UK have never checked my income when I’ve lived there or not. The dining credit is good and the travel and rental car insurance is, to me, worth keeping the card for on its own.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

No - my Equifax file shows all my Amex cards but nothing from HSBC. I know HSBC use it though, as they had a FICO score on the letter of offer for the CC, and there's a hard search on the Equifax file. I'm not sure but my Equifax report uses my old (expired) passport number as SSN - this was...

Earn up to 110 Qantas Status Credits on the ground

Received the bonus points from Kayo about 12 hours after signup - 1,100QFF plus 10SC for $30 isn't terrible. Beat me!

Are you a yay or nay to Avios subscriptions

That's a shame you cancelled, but no point dwelling on something that can't be undone I suppose. That said, even at the full price, it's not terrible value - but only when paying annually, imo. The largest package for refernce: GBP 199/m for 16,667 Avios = 1.19p/Avios GBP 1,989/y for 200,000...

Amex Plat GT from Aus to Spain - worth it?

In summary: 1) Only you can say for sure, but probably yes. 2) Once you have a Spanish address. 3) Almost certainly no. 4) Also no. They call it Global Transfer, but really it's a completely separate application for which Amex ES will liaise with Amex AU to make a decision in the absence of any...

QantasLink to fly to Christmas & Cocos (Keeling) Islands

I assume OP is meaning whether QF will contract the TP lounge to accommodate its status pax, so that Gold/Plat/P1 don't have to sit in the terminal. Not sure it's likely since they aren't selling J seats on these flights, so there's no incentive for QF to do it...

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

Eco hotels - will the stay qualify for Green tier still if a voucher is used to part-pay (e.g. the PC+ $100)?

My OH dropped to bronze this year and received same day as I did (she is Bronze PC+).

Yeah mate definitely, P1 is still a step above LTP, so if you achieve the SC earn you'll be upgraded.

    It counts towards P1.

Good that they arrived in decent time anyway - doesn't seem to be any logic to it that I can see, but I'm sure someone at QF has some reasoning somewhere!

No, my year end is February, the SC landed on 3/9, dated 1/9 (same for P2, who is a January year end).
