Inconsistent QFF points given on Partner Airline

Did you receive maybe an electronic ticket receipt attached to the email confirmation? Does this receipt show a "Fare Basis" at all? E.g. checking one of my LATAM tickets from last year, I cannot find the fare class obviously shown anywhere but I can see that the Fare Basis was GLEKDZ8I. This...

Inconsistent QFF points given on Partner Airline

What was the fare class (RBD) of the sector that didn't earn, and is it in this table? https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/earn-points/airline-earning-tables/earn-category-tables.html#latam

Best Australian debit card for overseas cash withdrawals?

What's everyone using these days for overseas ATM withdrawals? I've recently opened an AMP Bank GO Everyday account - no fees on the account or international transactions/ATM withdrawals and it's one of the few remaining bank accounts where you can still earn Qantas points on the balance.

Are you using AI / ChatGPT for travel planning and while travelling?

I'm regularly finding that ChatGPT/AI tools still routinely spit out incorrect travel-related information. Like the other day, Google's AI overview suggested going for Qantas status over Velocity status because Qantas offers family pooling. The annoying thing is that the incorrect information...

    Qantas adds OOL-AKL and SYD-AKL-APW

Technically it is a direct flight, by the aviation definition of the word. But it's not a non-stop flight. Same as QF1 SYD-LHR. No, the BNE-APW flight is continuing. SYD-AKL-APW is an additional new service.

    Ask The Pilot

Yes, I think you’re right - that engineering extended them as part of their checks. This plane ended up spending 19 hours on the ground in Canberra, so I assume the engineers must have found something during their checks.

    Ask The Pilot

Why would the slats on a 737 be extended while the aircraft is parked at the gate? Edit: I just found out this plane got struck by lightning on its last flight. So I suspect this maybe related. This brings me to a new question: what checks need to be done after landing if a plane is struck...

    Qantas adds OOL-AKL and SYD-AKL-APW

It’s the same flight number only if you fly SYD-APW without breaking up the trip.

    Qantas adds OOL-AKL and SYD-AKL-APW

It looks to me like the actual plane Qantas is using for the AKL-APW will fly a BNE-AKL-APW-AKL-BNE rotation. So if you're on the same flight number all the way through from Sydney to Apia, you'll change plane in Auckland.

No direct flights between India and mainland China?

China Eastern is now flying PVG-DEL. Currently 3x weekly on an A330-200 but it will go daily next year. Not many other direct routes up and running yet, which I'm sure is helping carriers like Cathay Pacific!

I’m not sure that this Philippines rule still applies. Nonetheless, if you wanted to post an exact itinerary here (with dates etc. included) I’m sure someone here will be able to tell you what the taxes are.

"Coffee tax" creeping into IHG hotels

I did. I guess the coffee was fine, by QLD standards ;) I probably sound like a coffee snob here, and yes I agree that the machine coffee was OK. But Melbourne is famous as one of the best cities in the world for coffee, so when I'm visiting for a short time, it seems like an absolute shame to...
