Where did you visit for its geographical significance?

Does political significance count? I drove down to the newly created Zimbabwe from Zambia on 18 April 1980 which was Zimbabwe's Independence Day. My passport of the time has stamps from the 3 different names of the country - Rhodesia, Zimbabwe-Rhodesia and Zimbabwe, all collected over a period...

It’s sort of a travel quiz

8/10. Need to swat up on WA. Had to pop in to a McDonalds in Bergen 2 months ago as couldn't find a toilet. Toilets in McDonalds there need a code that is printed on your receipt.

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

You can amend bookings booked through Qantas Hotels. This preserves the value of your voucher.

New aviation industry ombudsman & customer rights charter in Australia

I do blame them for trying. Whatever happened to the idea of a social license? It is also a chance for VH to differentiate herself from the dreadful AJ.

New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Sometimes the changes never get made. Just look at Amex statement credits - almost always exclude gift cards but they always seems to count (YMMV).

    10/10 but I actually only knew 8 - 2 were complete guesses.

Any suggestions for travel insurance for a "Do Not Travel" area?

I was kidnapped by ZIPRA in Southern Zambia in 1980. I had no insurance but fortunately was released after a few hours. A bit scary though! Of course that was well before the internet and the SmartTraveller website.

A short stint in Saudi (and QR Doha Stopover)

Well you are in a way. I remember being told by an Orthodox priest in Israel many years ago that all visitors are pilgrims whether they are Orthodox or not.

    One world becoming less relevant

Last year I booked an AY reward using AA miles. I switched from my AA number to my QF number on the AY website. I didn’t expect it to work but it held.

A short stint in Saudi (and QR Doha Stopover)

I don't mind the long walks at airports as it helps offset the overeating and meets my steps target. But if that is time that would otherwise be spent in AL Safwa then it is a different matter!

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I couldn't find one. I also couldn't find a way to offset one flight out of a longer itinerary.

Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

Booked one of the cygnets on QF28 on 27 November for March 16. There were a few flights available that week but they all disappeared in a few days.

I haven't visited Saudi for more than 20 years and interested to see what you think and experience.

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

    Hasn’t this thread gone a little off-topic?

Have you topped up a UK pension to cover gaps?

PSA. For those who are offered a mixture of class 2 and class 3 payments, remember that only whole years of contributions count. So if you just pay the class 2 bit of a year and pass on the class 3 bit of a year then that year will not count.

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

I think the little Aussie battler got a touch of vertigo above 70 US cents and needs to rest before surging again.
