    AA Upgrade Awards

Hey all, I'm thinking of upgrading a SEA-ORD-JFK-LHR trip on AA (booked in economy S class). I can use the Upgrade Awards deal, which will cost me 25K points + $350. I understand that these upgrades to First (SEA-ORD-JFK) are booked into A, and Business (JFK-LHR) to C. I am crediting these...

Quickest AND Cheapest path to QFF Gold

There's a great value AA KUPP fare at the moment, which I just booked for myself next month. It's LAX-FLL (via DFW or ORD, same SC either way, but DFW is shorter). It can be done in a day, if you leave early enough, or do it on a red eye LAX-DFW or LAX-ORD. It nets 420SC, for $668 USD ($741...

PE seating for a Y ticket?

Hey all, So I'm flying BNE-LAX on 29 May. I go to the advanced seat selection on the QF website, and it appears (from what I can see of the layout) that they're running a 4-class plane. The funny thing is though, it gives me the option to pick a seat in the PE section (where the seats are...

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

On another note. A friend of mine, for whatever reason, likes to put his title as "Doctor" on his QF bookings. I'm just speculating to see if this has any bearing at all on your chances of an op-up.....I'm guessing it doesn't, but what do y'all think?

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

I'm flying Y on QF11 (SYD-LAX) on 2 Aug. It originally was scheduled an A380, but now is allocated a 747 (grrr). I'm just trying to analyse my chances of getting a Y+ seat. The seat map on checkmytrip.com shows Y starting at 40, with the rows numbered 40,41,46,47,48,etc.... The furthest forward...

    Transporting frozen meat internationally..

I have already checked with both Qantas and Alaska Airlines - both of them allow up to 2.5kg of dry ice in your checked luggage, as long as it is labelled on the outside of your luggage.

    Transporting frozen meat internationally..

I don't know if you've ever been to a North American 'Barbeque'. Steak and Burgers. That's all there is. They don't do sausages like we do here in Australia. Sure, you can buy sausages in Canada. But they're your fancy schmancy 'Italian Sausages' or 'Bratwurst' or something like that. The...

    Transporting frozen meat internationally..

Hey all, Have an interesting situation I would like some help with. I am flying MEL-SYD-LAX-YVR in about 5-6 weeks time. I plan to take back to Canada some Australian bbq specialities (for a special occasion) - stuff you can't buy really anywhere in Canada (real Aussie BBQ sausages, kangaroo...

Q Business Lounges (MEL, SYD, BNE)

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned, but I spoke to a QP staff member a few days ago about the opening date of the new lounges. They said they just got an email mentioning it will be opening towards the end of July. Cheers, Josh

Flight Centre leads charge against fuel surcharges

I think it's perfectly fine for FC to charge a service fee. If you want the convenience of someone else doing the work of booking your flight/holiday, you should pay for that service. You do realise that FC make ZERO commission when they sell domestic flights? Commission is only made on...

Why can't through flights with same # be booked separately?

Try doing a multi city SYD-LAX-JFK on the QF site. You can definately book these as separate segements on the same ticket. I've done it before on QF25 (MEL-AKL-LAX) However, play around with it, because it might cost you a bit more. But it's worth trying to do if you can get extra status credits...

Don't you just love a bargain

Nope - I paid exactly the same amount for it, even though it was booked as 2 segments. Fuel fines and taxes for Qantas flights originating in the USA are only from $120-150 total. Also - They don't charge you any credit card fee either, saving you another $18 as well.

Don't you just love a bargain

It's amazing what lengths Qantas will go to for customers OUTSIDE Australia. I just booked a SFO-MEL-SEA (via LAX each time) multi-point trip for travel in May (August return) for US$1233 including taxes (About AU$1320 with the way the dollar is at the moment). A similar trip MEL-SFO return...

    Screaming Kids - Seating Allocations

Sorry I'll join this rant as well. <rant> Only because the last two times I've flown in J, (one of them a red-eye PER-MEL - much sleep was needed after a 2.5 hour delay!!), I was subjected to screaming (not crying, screaming) kids for half the journey. Now please don't compare kids like this to...

    SYD-SFO in November

Okay - I wouldn't worry about too much about weather around the YVR/SEA area. I'm living in YVR at the moment, and it's very rare to have the airport snowed in. (We only really get a few snow days per year around town usually in Dec/Jan). If you're going to be delayed, it's most likely not going...
