Dubious value depending on the route it seems. (IMHO). MEL to SIN in business class is 75,000 points per passenger plus $1205 or 107,000 points in first class plus $1205. I think I would struggle to savour a premium class on an 8 hour flight that departed MEL at 2.25am going to a similar time...

My family has an upcoming flight Melbourne to Cairns. My wife and I are in business class while our two sons ( 15yo, 17yo ) are in economy. Would it be reasonable that all 4 of us use the business class check in counter ?

Given you are approximately 10,000 points short, rather than spend money for the points and get nothing but the points, even if you are not a wine drinker you can gift the wine. Spend cash on the wine and get points PLUS the wine. The points credit usually take 2-3 days from purchase.

I suspect Cathay are trying to determine just how much demand there is next year for flights in and out of HKG given the hit HKG has taken with tourist numbers. I have noticed that MEL - HKG flights have dropped from 3 flights/day to 2 flights/day.

My family and I really enjoy ferries and know of the ferry but I am weighing up whether to spend a night or two in Helsinki then take the ferry or fly straight to Tallinn given I will already be at Helsinki airport. The focus of this trip is Estonia and Latvia not Finland.

All good in the end. It took a few phones calls I but manged to change both bookings to the same earlier flight via Brisbane as opposed to the last flight of the night. As expected I had to call both Qantas and Amex Travel to make the change.
