    AMEX rejection

So it's okay for Amex to maximise their profit but it's 'abhorrent' for churners to maximise their profit?

    AMEX rejection

Whether you like it or not, people will game systems. That is the nature of humans. You're never going to be able to stop it. Indeed, there are people gaming Amex way, way harder than Dr Ralph. They just don't disclose what they're doing in public forums.

Emirates Wolgan Valley to reopen as a Ritz-Carlton Lodge

This could be very attractive depending on points pricing. Nice to see more high end points hotels coming to Aus.

    Strategy to obtain UK Amex

If you still have an active UK bank account, I'd submit that as proof of address and an Australian bank account with any form of incoming payment. No guarantees, but you could be surprised at how lax these processes are.

You can still use the website (rather than the app) on your phone if that makes a difference.

Best way to get AA points when based in NZ

Unless you can get a US credit card, your best bet is probably purchasing them when on sale.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've never encountered an issue, though best practice is prob for each person to have a separate number as they do get reported to the credit bureaus.

    Cathay co-brand credit card

The credit card market is going backwards, not forwards, in Australia — consolidation of issuers, fewer international transfer partners, worse transfer rates, worse earn rates. I wouldn't be holding my breath for one if I were you.

    Finnair to launch Melbourne-Helsinki flights

The big benefit is more capacity and more competition out of Australia into Asia and Europe. That's a good thing for all consumers, whether you'd fly the specific product or not.

Your Qantas year in review (2025)

If you needed about 400K QFF to be in the top 1% of earners and QFF has 17.6M members that earned 222 billion points last year, that means.... The top 1% of earners earned at least 70 billion QFF, or roughly 31% of all points earned in the last year. And probably much more as there will be...

    Finnair to launch Melbourne-Helsinki flights

Early punters scored an amazing deal. No doubt this pricing error will be fixed before long.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Decided against it. Already have too many points. And paying AUD $0.0057/pt ($USD395 = $AUD595/105000) isn't particularly attractive when I don't need the points — I typically acquire at a lower cost. Yes, the sums are slightly better if you get full value out of the companion pass, but not by...

5 million QFF points being split for purchasing gift cards through QF Marketplace (16-26 October 2025)

Putting it into perspective in another way, Qantas issued 220 billion points last financial year. So this represents a mere 0.2% of points issued. It is, therefore, very very niche.
