    Top Three Holiday Photos

Well with iso-boredom i thought i might add a few by country. These are from Sabah in Malaysia and my first Oriental Hornbill was, for me, one of the great highlights in life. He was actually feeding a chick with a lizard, which i also captured, just amazing. The second is a Tabon Scrubfowl when...

The "I am in self-isolation" thread

The lock-down has at last given me time to do a job i was putting off for a long time, de-dusting all my old die-cast aircraft collection. I told the kids it was a fog slowly building up but they didn't buy it. Took four hours but fun going through the old liveries, aircraft and long gone...

    Top Three Holiday Photos

Like the thread. I have gone totally away from photographing man-made objects and tourist sites (which I extremely rarely visit these days) to now only photograph wildlife, particularly birds. I'm also arranging a lot of my spare time overseas to do birding, getting up early to do walks and keep...

Virgin Australia > Velocity cleans up at the Freddies [Again]

Reminds me of an old girlfriend many many years ago that had an amazing collection of sports trophy's (over 50 just for tennis), and at that time i think i had about 2 in my life from hockey. But what was more amazing was to find that most of them were made-to-order by her mother!

Virgin Australia > Velocity cleans up at the Freddies [Again]

It's like a lot of awards, like our lovely Logies! The voting pages used to be in the New Idea i think. Even go as far as the Academy Awards. All just fluff & guff, but fun.

The "I am in self-isolation" thread

Well I've done the 14 days and wasn't too bad. I had planned to re-catalogue one of my hobbies when i retired, but brought it forward a few years and finished most of it in 9 days so had something to focus on. Also wonderful to get the brain to stop thinking about the next work-trip, booking...

    The C word, R U OK?

Well, home now after Thailand and I must admit a very different trip to the "normal" return home. So a run-down; - Travelled down from up-country the night before and stayed at Le Meridien Suvarnabhumi, occupancy rate 15%. Amazing more staff than guests and sad to see a lot of the food wasted...

    The C word, R U OK?

Must admit it hit hard after all the calls "to come home". waited a few minutes then called QF and i have to say they were superb. As the lady (who i feel really dumb that...

    The C word, R U OK?

I'm still here in Thailand working getting ready for Friday's flight via SIN. Ready for the two week lock-down but actually looking forward to it just really want to get home. This is not really the place i want to come down with as i'm sure it will be a local hospital . We heard this morning...

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

But forgot to add the BIG point, no bank here would touch the UK 100 pound i had to convert to baht. Four banks refused to touch the money because of the virus, which I'm now in the process of drowning with poor quality alcohol! WARNING to all.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

VIEW FROM THE TRENCHES Heading now into week two of the backblocks of Thailand and things have ramped up here. Being temperature tested now 3 times a day and all recorded in the official company document. I demand that my fellow office workers (good friends and can see the joke) be tested to so...

The view or two from my "office"

Oh, and i forgot to mention they have a lovely modern drainage system to take away all the cooking rubbish and wash up water!!!!! One benefit though is being an avid birdwatcher it certainly is a feeding ground minus the rats. I commonly see black collared starlings, Great and Vinous breasted...
