With QF ff points practically you can only upgrade QF marketed QF operated flights. Not the AA flights. Oneworld have a trail cross airline upgrade scheme for using AA ff miles on QF flights and using QF points on AA. Just do not expect it work for you...

The CHC Manaia lounge used to a QF lounge about a decade ago., Has not changed much. A few months ago they put in some new tables, with unmatched chairs. Even UA use the Manaia lounge instead of the Air NZ lounge next door. Can get busy mid afternoon in summer.
