10% bonus miles when converting bank points into Asia Miles

I noticed that too. But how could Cathay possibly know whether the points you transfer are from a sign-up bonus or not? I'd be mildly surprised if you don't end up getting the 10% bonus points. But of course there's no way of knowing for sure until/unless you make the transfer. And even then...

Thanks for your insights. I will report back from Versailles. I love how we're having this conversation: AFF stands for "Artistic Frequent Flyer", right?

@FlyingFiona I haven't been able to get your comments about Vigée Le Brun out of my head, and now that I'm home I've been able to get out my catalogue and have another look at her Marie Antoinette portraits... Maybe I'm being a bit harsh. On the other hand, I read with interest the...

Is Velocity estore working for anyone?

I have tried 5 different devices -- Mac laptop (x2), windows laptop, iPad, and iPhone. Couldn't log in with any of them. Then I tried logging in with my wife's Velocity number and was able to log in. Weird.

Is Velocity estore working for anyone?

I haven't been able to login to the Velocity estore all week. I've tried different devices and different browsers. When I try to login, after entering my Velocity number and password I just get a blank white screen. Is this just me?

Thank you -- I'm so glad you enjoyed the TR. I really enjoyed writing it! Yes, I definitely learned some things about England that I didn't know: what a "Public Footpath" is, being at the top of the list. I also learned the hard way that "Orange Squash" is not to be drunk undiluted! I was...

Pax offloaded from Dash 8 due to weight and balance

Had a similar experience just a few days ago — all luggage offloaded, partly due to weather conditions. On a somewhat larger plane and longer flight, though...

Thanks @kookaburra75 Yes, it was an amazing trip -- life-transforming. I just need to knuckle down now and write! Thanks for following along all the way through this trip. I love the idea of Ian Rankin's auction! And yes, I'm exploring ways of asking for sponsorship to attend another Arvon...

Thank you for your kind words -- so glad you enjoyed the TR! I've only spent a couple of hours in Hebden Bridge myself (ie. the actual town) so I feel unqualified to say whether you should visit it. This I will say: the town is quaint and has some nice places to eat and shop. The surrounding...

Epilogue: The Turning Point. I am a writer. I would not have written that, much less believed it, two weeks ago. That is the key takeaway from this trip. I am a writer. I can do this. I can write a book that is worth reading. There will be no substitute for hard work. It will at times be...

Just a quick post on the best Business class hard products I've flown, given that I've flown a few new ones on this trip. A clear first to me is Singapore Airlines's bulkhead Business class seats on its B777 and long-haul A350s. The space you get in those seats is amazing -- really akin to...

Well, a TR is very different from a book! With books, every sentence is a work of art -- to be carefully and painstakingly crafted and edited to within an inch of its life. With a Trip Report (well, with my TR's anyway), it's more "stream of consciousness" stuff -- I post basically the first...

We ended up pushing back just after 2pm – almost 3 hours behind schedule. Then it was a 45-minute queue on the tarmac before takeoff. The flight is ended up arriving just before 1am, Melbourne time – about 3 hours behind schedule. The weather had improved considerably by the time we took off...

Trip with F's on a BP. Firsts, family, Food and Fun.

I had a similar experience a few years ago, and was told to “Submit Feedback” via the website below (scroll down to find it). I received a full refund of what I’d paid for internet access. https://www.qatarairways.com/en/help.html

Qantas Travel Insurance - so uncompetitive

That’s exactly my experience. I always get a quote on the off chance, but it’s never even close to competitive.

Meanwhile… my luggage is still in MAN. At least it’s made it from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 – T1 is to the east of T2, so that’s progress!

I must be the only AFFer who’s not familiar with HKG airport. I’d been so looking forward to visiting at least one of the famed Cathay Pacific Lounges! But it was not to be. We disembarked just under an hour before my scheduled flight CX163 to MEL. I just focussed on getting through Transit...

Now let me flash back to my account of the second half of CX216. I made up my bed after that (with a little help from the cabin crew). I unsuccessfully attempted to sleep for a couple of hours, then gave up for a bit and read through the entire blog opus of someone I’d met on the course. Her...
