QANTAS Club Flexible - Baggage Allowance

Im an NZ flyer, but I have a bunch of friends flying QF to LAX/DFW next month and one of them has posted in a group chat about this "Flexible" Club membership. It sounds good for what they want, if all the benefits they mention are available...BUT I am concerned by their confidence that they...

Have you accidentally booked the wrong flight?

Was deciding between dates while searching on the NZ website. You guessed it. Made up my mind and hit purchase...with a different set of dates still up. Sigh. Rang immediately, NZ call centre lady laughed and changed the booking.

What’s the most difficulty you’ve had with getting a visa?

The only one I was concerned about turned out to be a doddle. Needed a visa for Brazil. The website is incredibly unfriendly sounding, quoting an extended processing time, and a very strict "NO questions will be entertained regarding the progress of an application!!!!" (OK, the multiple...

LMU with EY meal. That's BP acronyms for Last Minute Upgrade with an Economy meal.

Seems logical to me. I recall plenty of comments over the years from folks who wanted a lie flat seat at a cheaper price but didn't care about the rest of the Biz offerings... Looks like MH make the offers with full info about what you get. Actually sounds good to me, depending on price...

Which airlines offer compassionate fares and are they worth it?

I thought the point of these fares was NOT that they would be terribly cheap..but that they would be more flexible than usual?

Personal greetings from the cabin manager - what can you (realistically) ask for?

On NZ the J headphones in Y used to be pretty standard, along with a CSM visit and greeting. The BEST interaction was some years ago... when I commented on the lack of Pyjamas in NZ J I later received a very nice light wool skivvy in the mail... complete with subtle NZ logo...and a card signed...

Article: Have Australians Stopped Flying to the USA? Here’s What the Data Says…

Like many others it is the accommodation costs (and in some areas the rental cars) that seem far more expensive now... It doesn't stop me travelling.... but I have started using Airbnb a LOT more. When travelling solo that can be a bit hit or miss.... fortunately half my trips are with...

    Upgrade Dilemma

Or an Exit row (on QF or any airline, Ive done SYD-MNL on PR that way to also meet up with a nice ex MNL J itin) Day flights are much easier IMO.

What makes a good airport and what's your favourite?

i understand why we are talking about the BIG international airports, and there are a lot of great answers here as to what makes a good one. BUT...to answer the SECOND part of the question, my actual FAVOURITE airports are the small or smallish regionals... ;) Here and in North America...

Air New Zealand Sky Couch Discussion

Be nice, given the upcharge, if the Skycouch rows were directly behind PE, and got PE F & B! (Dream on)

Air New Zealand Sky Couch Discussion

Have flown it 3 or 4 times AKL-LAX or vv. I think its better than PE... simply due to being able to lie down, even if not stretched out (I AM only 5' 7" so that helps) I find that I can lie down quite comfortably, admittedly with legs bent... but given it is WIDER than the Biz class seat...

From what I make of the TRS rules as long as the "invoice" is in HIS name it should be OK.....

    Little things I like

Sorry, yes. Its the smallest they make, the "Sportliner". Comes in various configurations, but I bought mine used so had no choice....still...the slim single bed at each end, with a central fridge/microwave/stove/sink arrangement suits me well enough.

    Koala Airlines Discussion

To be fair REX (and Hazelton and Kendall before it) operated for far longer than those others you mention. I'm not sure they belong in the same category TBH.

    Little things I like

Little things? ;) Decided I'm too old for tents, finally. So for my sporting travels I just bought a TINY caravan... 9 feet long, tare under 700kg, and no canvas! Weather did NOT cooperate for its first test use. No leaks though so a useful exercise perhaps?

Article: Should Airlines Keep Lounges Open for Delayed Flights?

It was a QF flight from HKG (IIRC) for me too. In fact several Flyertalkers/AFFers were on the same flight to SYD. The Lounge stayed open - and the barman - who was VERY good BTW - was completely unfazed it seems about the extension of his shift due to the delay.....I was very impressed... mind...
